Overdue Promises

Description

A promise is a promise and it should never be broken, but when promises are given once too many it creates a chaos with no solutions. Unless, that solution, of course, is the destruction of the promisor's life. It's certainly is a shame that you never made these promises, to begin with. None the less, the promised have come to collect and you have little choice but to face the consequences of someone else's actions head on. What else can you possibly do? The alternative is far graver than what you already have ahead of you.

It wasn't theirs to give,

-your future

but they gave it without care.

It wasn't theirs to offer,

-your freedom

but shackles you now wear.

It wasn't theirs to trade

-your honor

but shameless you must be.

It wasn't theirs to bargain, but now your soul...

can't be set free.

Foreword

Here we are back on these keyboards. Haha. This time I'm trying my hand at an urban fantasy based wholly on the idea of intended promises. As human beings I think we all get called out for making promises we can't or don't keep *cough my last few stories cough* but nothing feels more taxing than a promise made by another that you have to now fulfill, and that's what I intend to explore with this one. So please enjoy and leave those comments, I always message back. Without further ado, I present to you Overdue Promises!
