The next morning, Hanbin anxiously waits for Jennie outside her dorm unit.
It’s a little before 7:00 and he has just pressed the door bell.
Moments later, Jennie opens the door.
“Oh - Hanbin. What are you doing here?” She is still in her pajamas, rubbing her eyes.
As predicted, they are swollen.
“Uhh…. ” Hanbin removes his cap and runs his hand through his hair, suddenly unable to speak.
'How are you?' he wanted to ask.
But instead he blurts out,
“Do you have rice?”
Jennie is just as surprised to hear what he just said as he is.
She scratches her head, a little bit confused about the situation.
“I just woke up but uhm.. we have a lot of instant ones. Come in.”
She leaves the door open and signals him to follow her.
As soon as she turns around, he slaps himself.
“Pabo-ya. Of all the things you could say, you think of rice?!” he mutters under his breath.
“Sorry, you were saying something?” Jennie turns around to ask.
“Oh - nothing. I was asking if you slept well last night?” he quickly retorts, and then slaps himself again after she turns back around.
She lets out a weak laugh and doesn’t answer.
After a short pause she finally utters,
“You were right about getting puffy eyes.”
She opens one of the kitchen cupboards and gets 5 containers of instant rice.
“Here,” she hands them over to Hanbin,
“These should be enough. Do you need kimchi too? My mom just sent some over.” she tries to seem as if he hasn’t just seen her break down a few hours ago.
But he can no longer take it.
He needs to say something.
“Jennie-ah.” he starts,
