"Do you have a cell phone?"

Taehyung heard one of his classmates ask the new student, while Jungkook looked completely bored, maybe even borderline devoid of emotion, as he quietly stared out the window. The new student ignoring the group of girls that had quickly situated themselves around him as soon as the class had gone on break. Everyone couldn't help but want to get to know Jeon Jungkook, even though it looked as if he wasn't even mentally here.

Taehyung tried to ignore what was going on, but with the girls being so close to Jungkook and all of them looking at him as if he was a piece of meat instead of a person, a human being with emotions and feelings, Taehyung couldn't help but cringe.

Only to wonder if the other boy would blow up and yell at them for getting too close a second later. Especially since the girls seemed to not care about the fact that they were a hair away from falling into his lap or were within touching distance, encroaching on his personal space to the point that most people would be uncomfortable with - something of which, Taehyung knew Jungkook didn't like, despite hating the other boy. Because as much as Taehyung disliked the other, Taehyung was the same and if he had been put in the same position, he'd probably have yelled at the girls already or at least thought about doing so, just barely able to refrain himself from the action.  If he didn't, then he'd have to suffer the consequences by taking a hit to his already fragile popularity, a popularity that Taehyung worked so hard to get.

He couldn't be the loser that he had been in middle school anymore.

It would probably break him if Taehyung was trying to be honest with himself.

Silently watching the exchange as his friends continued to talk about their significant others, Kunpimook whining ever so lightly about not having anyone like that, despite a few of his male friends being quite interested in him, Taehyung couldn't help but be surprised when Jungkook finally turned to look at the girls in front of him. His eyes were icy cold and almost darker than black - so much so, that Taehyung wondered where his pupils began and ended. The other looking positively scary, even with his soft, boyish features that basically screamed 'Flower Boy.'

"No, and even if I did, I wouldn't want to exchange my number with any of you, especially since you don't even know the concept of personal space! I'm out of here," Jungkook softly muttered before he was pushing back his chair and grabbing one of his books with the intention to walk away. The sound of his chair had easily reminded Taehyung of the disturbing sound of nails screeching across a chalkboard that Taehyung found himself flinching due to how offending the noise sounded to his ears. While Jungkook could only continue to ignore the girls as he quietly walked by them, giving them the impression that they were worth nothing more than a bug being squashed by the bottom of his foot.

Unable to stop himself from following Jungkook with his eyes, Taehyung wasn't prepared to hear Kunpimook grumble, "What crawled up his and died? He's ing new here and yet, he acts as if he's king of the hill or some like that! Like he hasn't even been here that long to even do that, ugh, what an ," in response to Jungkook's sudden departure.

Turning to the other boy, eyes wide from surprise at the other's language in regards to the new student, Taehyung couldn't help but want to say something about how it may have been the group of girls' fault instead. But before he could say anything though, Sungjong was quick to cut in, interrupting his train of thought: "Yeah, it hasn't even been a day since he started here and he acts as if he's all that. The guy may look like a model, but he has the attitude of a worm. You'd never see my boyfriend act like that. And if he did... Well, I'd probably drop kick him to Timbuktu."

Only for Yooa to frown as well, just as annoyed as the others, "My boyfriend neither... He's a bit of an idiot sometimes, but he would never treat a woman like that and this is Jaebum we're talking about, the guy I literally had to train when it came to girls. He makes Jungkook look like a complete to be honest... And just yesterday he was asking for us to treat him well, what crock! Like really, he may have a decent looking face, but he really shouldn't be acting like that. It wasn't as if the girls were doing anything wrong either, they were just asking for his number. He could have just said no and be done with it, instead of saying the rest of that."

"I know! And those girls were doing him a service for asking that, especially with his attitude." Kunpimook commented, his words causing Sungjong and Yooa to agree.

Feeling like he should be understanding of what his friends were saying, especially since the three of them had kind of made sense, Taehyung was more than a bit confused on what he should say. Because as much as he had understood why Jungkook had done what he had done, especially since the girls were the ones that were annoying him by pressing buttons they shouldn't have, Jungkook had been a little harsh as well. The way the other looked for something as small as one intruding on his personal space did seem to be a little over the top, especially since it wasn't like the girls were truly trying to be mean or anything like that with their actions either. And with him not being the biggest fan of the other boy in the first place, Taehyung probably shouldn't be as understanding as he was. Especially after everything that had happened in middle school, so Taehyung could only keep his thoughts to himself for the time being.

Jungkook had barely been here a day and the other was already making him feel awkward in his skin, even if Taehyung shouldn't have had anything to be awkward about. Because Jungkook, as much as he had been a part of his past, he was someone he didn't care for anymore and he shouldn't be able to elicit such emotions in him. Especially since he was Kim Taehyung, top of the food chain and untouchable by most of his peers, even if his placement within his group was sketchy at best, he really had no reason to feel the way he was feeling. And after years of having reinvented himself, finally being good enough to be popular and loved by almost everyone around him, Taehyung had finally been given the ending he wanted.

Popularity.

Friends.

A place where he wasn't the weird outcast anymore.

It didn't matter if Taehyung changed to the point that he was completely unlike himself or that he did a lot of things that he may not have liked. To be popular and liked, sometimes, you had to do some really dumb and bad things to get it, even if those things were the type of things that made you hate yourself a bit. And sadly... Taehyung sometimes did.

Hearing a "Taehyung, you okay?" come from one of his friends, Taehyung was quick to shake his head to clear those thoughts away. He really didn't need to have a pity party in the middle of class, so turning his attention back to the group, he could only ask, "Yes? What is it?"

While Sungjong could only give him an expectant smile in response, voice saccharine sweet, "What do you think of the new kid? You've been rather quiet this whole time and we were just wondering what you were thinking."

Feeling a sudden pressure make his insides squirm, Sungjong's eyes looking expectantly at his, while the rest of his friends were waiting patiently for him to answer, Taehyung couldn't help but think about Jungkook and their past.

The other having ripped his heart out of his c

Chapter 1: I LOVE how you have a lot to say about this topic but I would suggest finding a way to relay this through your story and not just jumble it all up together like so. There's a lot of vague telling and because of that, I found the chapter stilted. A good proofread from someone other than yourself would do wonders.

I particularly liked the imagery given to us with: "He couldn't help but place his chin above his knees, looking every bit as awkward as he had when he had been in junior high."

Good luck sweetie.
