At the exact moment that the Sun and Moon announced this, there was a great light that shot up in the sky and enveloped it in a blast of gold and silver. The people who waited patiently at the foot of the mountain watched in amazement at the sight. It seemed almost like an eclipse except that the sky was bright and the sun or moon was nowhere to be seen.
Kang Wonwoo quickly turned to his cousin, who was the only one who remained stoic and emotionless amongst the commotion. “What does this mean?” Wonwoo asked. “The songbird had been chosen,” Yoongi explained as he kept his eyes on the path leading up the mountain. “The remaining maidens are probably on their way here.” “And Seulgi?” Yoongi sighed. “I honestly don’t know.” In all honesty, Yoongi had tried to push away the possibility that Seulgi might be chosen. She wouldn’t be chosen. There were other girls better qualified than her, right? What were the odds that out of all the maidens in the kingdom, she would be the one chosen? But as the selection continued on and Seulgi kept advancing and advancing, Yoongi couldn’t help but face the reality that he would lose his favorite cousin forever. He was snapped back to reality by the sound of cheers and shouts as 5 maidens appeared. It was rare that the Sun and Moon use their powers for something other than their duties. The beacon of light that they had sent out reached into the celestial world and announced to everyone that the songbird had been chosen. It passed through the Realm of Elements and Citadel, all the way to the end of the dimension. It was impossible for any god to be uninformed about the news. A lone bird soared through the sky, its majestic wings cutting through the gold and silver sky. It camouflaged perfectly, as its feathers were just as bright. It didn’t take long for it to be able to reach Choguk, a group of floating islands in the middle of the Realm of Elements. The summits of the mountain ranges peaked from the clouds. As the bird flew in between them, it started to see its destination, the middlemost island. On it was a huge sculpture made of rock. It consisted of four females, the Guardians of the Elements, and between them was a large waterfall that fell down to the world below and dis
