My Roleplay Rants.

Description

Unfiltered opinions regarding twitter roleplays nowadays. It's not too late to turn back, the X button is right there. PS: My rants may seem dumb as I'm pretty sure it is.

Shout out to all the roleplay rants out there for speaking up and giving me this idea.

Foreword

Let's get right onto it, shall we?

Whatever I say below is strictly for nonau twtrps.

So, Twitter roleplays. Dear Lord, the flashbacks are thundering hard. I don't even know where to begin. Right, let's begin with the rules of a roleplay. Every roleplay will state that you cannot facechase, you cannot be biased, you cannot start drama, et cetera. But what's ironic is that it's always these rules that people often break. I can't count how many times I noticed people facechasing their favorite idols. I stan BTS, therefore I often faceclaim them, and the amount of people trying to appeal to me or my members are disgusting. For example, this girl DM-ed me and we started talking casually. I'm not one to give dry replies, so you can say I tried my best to make the conversation as fun as it can get. I think she misintepreted it and started calling herself my 'girlfriend' on timeline, that I'm the closest to her, tweeting screenshots of our conversation (even if it's not funny), basically becoming my fan account. The DM can go like "what's up?" "nothing. just hungry. you?" "you're hungry, too? that's so funny because same." and she'd screenshot it and tweet with a caption that sounds like "_____ and i are even coupling hungriness. fate." like... Calm Down. It's not that deep. Some of you might say she's just being friendly or being playful, but trust me, it's really not like that. She told me who her bias was in BTS, and at one point I met her again in another roleplay (note that she doesn't know who I am, I found out because she doesn't change her way of talking). Y'all already know what happened. She did the same thing to her bias in BTS like what she did to me in the previous roleplay. It's not a coincidence. It's called facechasing and it's against the rules. I can give a lot of examples about this matter, but perhaps in the near future.

Another example of people being biased: cliques. Dear readers, I want you to drop whatever you're doing and read this real carefully. We've all seen cliques happening in every roleplay. It's basically a situation like this: Imagine a new roleplay opening up. On the first day or even the first hour, A is already calling B his/her Ride Or Die. To be more specific, I'm going to use names of random roleplayers. U-Know's first tweet is "i come on and eunha's already cheating on me with seungjun." Dude, you just arrived in the roleplay 3 seconds ago. What you mean you already know Eunha or is already close with her. That's not how roleplay works. Then U-Know and Eunha starts bickering and it's SO SO SO obvious that they knew each other. Sometimes it's not only between two people, it could be three, four, five. Why don't you just bring your whole FL friends to the roleplay then? When I roleplayed with my friends, I never show the fact that I knew them. Especially on timeline. I'd greet them and converse like I never knew them before. I talk to others the way I talk to my friends. Wanna know why? Because I don't want to break the 'no biased replies' rules. Cliques can also occur among people who just knew each other and got closer within a short period of time. It usually happens in group, like BTS, Seventeen, TWICE, NCT, EXO, Loona, Pristin, PLEDIS/SM/YG/Starship, you name it. They talk to each other WAY more than they talk to people who's not related to them in any way. For example, there was this roleplay that turned out alright in the beginning but as time passed, the whole timeline was dominated by PLEDIS. I know.. because I was one of them. A PLEDIS GC was created. Basically, everyone bonded with each other, I did too, but I never showed timeline about the GC in case they'd feel left out. But the others started tweeting screenshots, inside jokes that only PLEDIS members would understand. People started appearing less and the roleplay closed down. We all know why.

Let's talk about people being OOC. Is it really that hard to put brackets in your tweet when you're speaking out of character? I was in this really great roleplay that lasted about 3 months. I was in it from the very beginning. It was exactly the kind of roleplay that people like me dreamt of. People obeyed the rules, we had plenty of events, hardworking admins, super friendly members, no cliques, no facechasing. There were a few flaws here and there but before the admin could call them out, the members would do it before them. It was really nice. For example, there was this guy who started tweeting OOC things without using brackets. Apparently, he made a thread that said "OOC stuffs." so that he won't have to put brackets. He'd tweet under the thread, posting ooc pictures, tweeting pretty much what you'd say in your private account. So the members asked him to start tweeting in brackets and he left, saying that the roleplay was horrible. I mean, if following the rules makes me horrible, I would gladly be. Don't forget the occasional "i'm going to study." tweets by an idol who graduated a long time ago. Put brackets, y'all. Or people who just describe themselves when asked by others. If I roleplay an idol, I'd find out what the idol likes or dislikes before I say anything. For example, if I was Jonghyun of SHINee and people asked me what I like most, it'll be my music. Not reading fanfics, not "my cats! snow and rocky, they're the cutest." Dude, Jonghyun doesn't have cats called Snow and Rocky. Don't do that. Let's not forget the seasons talk. If the roleplay is based on Korean settings, then we all know Korea have snow. But some people would tweet that /at their place/, it doesn't snow. My dude, you're a Korean idol and it apparently doesn't snow? Wrong world you're in, my friend. I also remember knowing a Sulli who said she'd never date Choiza while the real Sulli is still dating Choiza. What drugs are you on? If the idol you're faceclaiming as is not allergic to strawberries, then don't say you're allergic to strawberries. If the idol you're faceclaiming has announced they don't like certain stuffs, then don't say you like the 'stuffs'.

More will come because I have a life to handle and had to let some of my frustrations out before I go.

The first and second point is one of the biggest reasons why did I feel roleplay nowadays are a mess. The obviousness is real, facechasing and clique. I miss the old role play when everything was fun and friendship. Not focusing on relationships or "how am I going to have my oppar's attention" you're cool I hardly meet people like you in a roleplay world
