- 17th-18th century france

- under louis xiv's rule

- palace of versailles (where this takes place)

- the nobles in paris were sent to live with the king in versailles so they could be

observed and wouldn't plot anything against the king 

-versailles is a really big palace and there is even a tv show on it.
