Chapter 1

Bruised Pride

The university life was boring for Jennie, she was the top girl and no one stood in her way. Whether it was academics or in the social aspect, Jennie stood above the rest. All the boys and girls wanted to date her or befriend her. She needed a challenge, someone that wouldn’t be afraid to say no to her. Someone that wouldn’t bow before her feet, just the thought of it sent shivers down her spine.

“Jennie-ya,” someone yelled from behind her. Jennie rolled her eyes and kept walking, it was the one and only Kim Jisoo. One of Jennie’s only friends and not to mention her best friend. They’ve known each other since they were in diapers.

“What do you want, Jisoo?” Jennie asked as she kept walking, ignoring all the stares that were sent their way. Jisoo was just as popular as Jennie with her baby-face and four-dimensional personality. She seemed to be the only one that could deal with Jennie’s snarky personality.

Jisoo smiled and wrapped her arm around Jennie’s shoulders as they continued to walk towards their first period class, “I heard there are transfer students from abroad.”

Jennie simply quirked a brow, “So?” Jisoo rolled her eyes and ignored her friends disinterest in such rare events. The university usually didn’t accept transfer students, especially in the middle of a semester so it was big news for everyone on the campus.

“I heard one is from Australia,” she whispered into Jennie’s ear. That caught her attention. Her eyes widened slightly and Jisoo smirked, “Doesn’t that make it more interesting?”

Jennie groaned, of course Jisoo knew what to say to get a reaction out of her. “So, what?” she mumbled under her breath as they arrived in their classroom. Taking their assigned seats, Jisoo turned around to look at her before smirking, “Maybe you can find someone that will peak your interest?”

Jennie bit her cheek and huffed as the professor walked in with two students lagging behind him. Both were tall, taller than Jennie and Jisoo at least. One had blonde hair while the other had an off-shade red that got Jennie’s attention. The red head girl worse glasses and seemed to be a bit shy. Jennie couldn’t help but stare, the girl was beautiful but all of sudden their eyes met. Jennie looked away quickly, cursing under her breath that she had been caught in such an embarrassing way.

“Class we have two transfer students, Rosé from Australia and Lisa from Thailand. I expect you to be nice and teach them all the rules since they are new to this university and culture. Rosé you can sit by Jennie and Lisa by Jisoo. Raise your hands you two!” Jennie sighed but raised her hand as she looked up to meet the eyes of the redhead named Rosé. The said girl smiled softly and took a seat beside her. Jennie glanced over a couple of times to notice the girl’s beautiful side profile and cute expressions. No words were spoken throughout the lecture and when it was over the girl quickly got up and ran away. Not even sparing Jennie a glance. Jennie was left flabbergasted. She was one of the best students in the school and she was beautiful. How could the new girl not look at her? “What wrong Jendeukie?” Jisoo asked, taking Jennie out of her thoughts about the new girl.

“Nothing’s wrong.” She quickly got up and got her things, “Let’s go to lunch.”

Jisoo got up and followed her to the cafeteria wondering what was going on in her friend’s head. She never acted like this. Then a thought hit her, was it the new girl? Did she do something to her? Jisoo was so caught up in her thoughts she bumped right into Jennie, almost falling over.

“What the Jen?” she half-yelled at the girl. Looking up at her she noticed the said girl was staring at something or better yet someone. Following her friend’s gaze, her eyes landed on the new redhead girl. Was her name Rosé? Jisoo thought. But all of a sudden, all the dots came together. Jisoo smirked and whispered in Jennie’s ear, “See something you like?”

Jennie blushed slightly, embarrassed that she was caught by Jisoo. Embarrassed that the new girl had indeed flustered her and she didn’t even understand why.

“You know there is no one in this university worth my time, Jisoo.”
