After Sixteen and Produce 101, Somi couldn’t imagine that the next time she’ll roam the streets of Seoul, she’ll be seeing and smelling the ‘dead.' She can’t exactly know how this happened and what those things are, but she was sure that those were close to the ‘zombies’ she saw in movies. A month before the breakout started, Somi was busy shooting music shows and variety shows. Even though a month has passed, the military and the government still hadn’t issued anything since then, so Somi wasn’t quite sure of what was happening. Ever since it started, people began reinforcing their homes, which they now call ‘bases.'

Within the month, Somi has seen tons of killings that were caused by the ‘dead.' It wasn’t exactly killing, Somi supposed, it was more like of biting and then infecting, but she still insists on calling it killing since it was the same and the only difference is that the infected weren’t dead, and weren’t exactly living anymore. It was evident that no one follows the law anymore. People steal everything they think they need and claim homes or bases that aren’t theirs. Somi still can’t comprehend that this was happening. It took her a week to move on to this harsh reality. Lucky for Somi, she wasn’t alone when all of this happened.

“Yah Jeon Somi! Are you going in or not?” The conversation was in English. There were still plenty of people alive, but the dead were far many. They figured that it would be convenient to use English rather than Korean. They were both comfortable with it, plus other civilians wouldn’t find out their whereabouts.

“Oh, Chungha unnie? I’m going.” Somi said as she entered the supermarket. It was in the middle of the night, and although the owner of the market was present, they were careful on making loud noises. While trying to survive in the past month, they realized that the ‘dead’ were pretty much sensitive to loud noises, and that’s all they’ve got to avoid.

“Young ladies, what will you get for this night?” The owner asked. Somi looked around noticing that there were plenty of civilians inside the market, which was the usual population. The market was closed during the day because the ‘dead’ is much more active then compared during the night.

“The usual” Somi answered. Their usual supermarket routine was just a few packs of snacks, some ramen, and enough water to get by for a couple of days. They were lucky that a supermarket nearby is still running, and that it still gets delivery for new supplies. The duo thanked the owner and walked towards the exit.

“Ah. I forgot to tell you. Your friends also bought some supplies here earlier.” The owner’s words made the two stop.

“Friends? Are you sure you’re not mistaken? It’s only the two of us that lives together.” Chungha said. They can’t remember telling the owner they had friends –which they don’t –as far as the breakout started. Despite his old age, the owner knew that Somi and Chungha were from Produce 101 (though he didn’t know IOI because he only had interest in voting and survival programs.)

“Really? I might be wrong. Go on then. Thank you for shopping tonight.” Chungha and Somi exited the shop. The owner was sure that he wasn’t mistaken. It’s been an hour since the two exited, but still he knows he was right.

“I can’t be mistaken though. I saw them together in Produce 101.” The owner thought referring to Somi, Chungha, and their ‘friends’.
