CHAPTER 2
BEHIND THIS MASK
AN INTRODUCTION: THE YANG BROTHERS
A life filled with material things without hard work is temporary. But a life filled with things from one’s own labor is worth a lifetime.
Seung Ho came out of the conference room. He had to prepare for the upcoming SU’s Freshmen Welcome Party in a week’s time. He is expected to make sure that the event will be a success; after all, he’d be graduating this school year and will be taking over his father’s school. Yes, he will inherit one of Seoul’s most prestigious schools.
Being the eldest of the Yang brothers, he is expected to take full responsibility of the school. He likes the idea of running the school. He likes the feeling of being in control but, not manipulating people.
He grew up following what others wanted from him and he hated it when people tell him what to do. This will be his time to do things his way.
From now on, no one can stop me with whatever I want to do. I won’t be bothered even of they’d think I’m a rebellious and spoiled kid. I had enough of people telling me what to do.
Byung Hee has an appointment with his mother at SMU. He intentionally left his apartment an hour earlier to grab a cup of coffee across the university. He made sure that he has secured the stand of his motor bike. Of all his possessions, he loved his bike the most. It was a gift from their parents after he represented the country and won Debater of the Year in the annual International Collegiate Debate 2 years ago. He was considered as the youngest awardee, being able to win the award at the age of 18.
Among the 3 siblings, he was the most rational that even it comes to appoint that he is already talking back at the other party. That attitude of his makes him look rude in front of others.
I don’t care. As long as I know I’m right, I’m not bothered with what they’ll think of me. They should always put in mind to never judge a book by its cover.
Doojoon is like the wind, free and wild. He is the youngest among the siblings, making him the most carefree and outgoing. And yes, he is the typical spoiled brat. He gets whatever he wants, whenever he wants.
He has a lot of friends because he knows how to get along with people, and that what compensates for his spoiled attitude. He doesn’t care if they make friends with him just because he is the son of Korea’s most wealthy noble family. Owning 3 of the biggest and most prestigious school in the country is just too overwhelming. Being friends with one of the successors is just too good to be true.
I don’t care if it’s the fame they’re after. I’m just glad that I have some people to consider as “friends”. As long as I’m not alone, I’d get by.
