Vow

Description

The sun was high, the clouds were blue, and the mood was right. The cathedral was grand and majestic. Petals covered the red carpet on the aisle and people were smiling all around. Wonwoo stood at the end of the aisle waiting.

Then the doors opened and the person standing at the end was bathed in warm sunlight making them look like they came from the heavens.

I remember when I first met you.

Wonwoo stood in front of the practice room mirror when the CEO came into the room.

"Boys, gather around. We have a new trainee I want you to meet."

He went out the door before coming back in with a tall boy with the cutest smile Wonwoo has ever seen.

"Hi, i'm Kim Mingyu! I'll be joining you from now on."

Ever since then, I knew that you were The One.

Mingyu walked down the aisle wearing a sleek black tuxedo with a white bowtie. His black hair was cleanly slicked back. His eyes shone and he had a shy smile on his face.

Wonwoo had seen a lot of things. In his 28 years of life, he had seen flowers bloom and waves crash against the shore but he has not seen a sight more breathtaking than Mingyu at that moment.

Mingyu's steps were slow and steady. His heart was beating out of his chest but oh was he excited to reach the end of the aisle.

I promise to you that i'll always be here.

It did not take long for Mingyu to be comfortable with the other boys but he always hung around Wonwoo. They were always seen talking or playing around with each other.

Training to be an idol was hard work but Mingyu knew that Wonwoo would always be there for him when he felt like giving up.

"You know you can tell me anything, right? I'll listen to all your problems when you need me. I'm here, you know that, right?"

"Yes, hyung."

I'll be there to cheer you up whenever.

Mingyu lied down on his bed. It hasn't been long since they debuted and the comments were getting to him.

"You're only a visual. You're not talented enough."

"Why don't you have light skin?"

"There's so many members in Seventeen. They don't need you."

It hit him then that from there, it would only get worse. He knows it shouldn't matter but it really made him upset to see all the negativity.

Wonwoo stepped into the room where Mingyu slept. He knew when the younger was upset and now was one of those times. He tapped Mingyu's shoulder and made the boy turn towards him.

"Do you wanna go to the convenience store to get ice cream?"

If there was anything that can cheer Mingyu up, it would be ice cream. Wonwoo knew that if Mingyu wanted to tell him what upset him then he would tell but right now he just needed comfort.

Mingyu nodded. He wiped his tears with his arms and stood up. Wonwoo was always there and he always knew what to do. What would he do without Wonwoo?

I love you more than words can explain.

Mingyu took a deep breath. Three more steps and he'd reach the end of the aisle.

One.

Two.

Three.

He stopped in front of Wonwoo. He flashed one of his smiles. The biggest one he could muster. This day could not be anymore perfect.

Wonwoo held his breath as Mingyu stood in front of him smiling. The way Mingyu's face lit up and his eyes scrunched. Wonwoo could die happy right then and there. Nothing made him happier than seeing Mingyu smile.

I want you to smile and be happy all the time.

"Thank you so much, Wonwoo."

"My pleasure."

Mingyu took one last look at Wonwoo before going to his groom's side.

Wonwoo felt his heart ache.

Even if you're gonna be happy with someone else.

The ceremony dragged on and on. Wonwoo's heart breaking with every word that was said.

"...as your lawfully wedded husband?"

Hearing those words, Wonwoo looked up to see Mingyu looking at him. Mingyu was smiling and looking the happiest Wonwoo had ever seen him. Wonwoo smiled back.

"I do."

I'll always be your best friend.
