prologue (2/2)

spur of the moment

"Mom, you don't-"

"But as the woman who gave birth to you and has taken care of you for the past eighteen years, I have to worry about you, Tzuyu! You're so young, going to a foreign country by your own. Oh dear..."

A young-looking lady, whose name was given as Tzuyu, only exhaled a sigh out of her lips as a response, her right hand clutching tight onto the electronic device. She knew her mother would react in this manner because of fear for her safety, since the news had broadcasted terrible news regarding teenagers being encountered with unexpected tragedies.

"Don't you worry, mom. I'll take good care of myself, I promise. I have lived for years and I can still survive even the craziest things. Rest assured, I'll be just fine. If my brother can survive in university, why can't I?"

A long silence sparked between the two individuals conversing on the phone, since her mother was on a business trip in Shanghai and wouldn't be expected to return in the next couple of weeks while her father, whose approval was already gained at the speed of lightning, was keeping their family resort back in Taiwan on track. Tzuyu knew it won't be easy to gain her mother's approval so, she reasoned with her in the best way that she could.

"...I guess, you do have a point there. But please, please, please inform me anytime whenever you are free. I apologize for not being able to be there to send you to the airport tomorrow morning. Still, I'll wish you my best regards."

"Thank you, mom. Your wishes are already enough to keep me at ease. No worries."

"I love you, Chou Tzuyu. Send my regards to your father and brother."

"I love you too, mom. I definitely will. Take care out there."

"Likewise, sweetheart... Ah, yes! Hold on, let me get the file-"

The call ended a few miliseconds after, with Tzuyu's mind feeling a little fuzzy, as if she was stuck in a state of blissful disbelief. She couldn't believe her reasoning worked, her orbs still as big as saucers, until she gave her hip a light pinch and the door to her bedroom suddenly creaked open, leading her to jump out of surprise (and pain).

A booming laugh was heard, the face of her brother being seen, an 'OK' sign exchanged between the two, while he threw a unfamiliar book to her and she caught it swiftly, her eyes scanning the words written on the cover. It was a manual on how to speak Korean, a language she had picked up for her upcoming trip - and deep down inside her heart, she was grateful for the love of her family.

She was greeted by yet another surprise - a certain giggle coming from her blanket, which ended up giving her a fright as she lunged towards the moving body under the blanket, a loud shriek being the initial respond.

"Hey, Tzu! Did you forget that you invited an adorable squirrel here?"

"Oh! Oops, you're right. I'm sorry, Sana-"

"Don't worry, sugarplum. You're lucky you're cute," Sana answered slyly and sat up on the other's bed, giving her a small peck on the cheek. Tzuyu couldn't help but to roll her eyes playfully, her hands cupping the latter's cheeks as gentle as possible.

"Why are you such a flirt, even with me?"

"You're cute, miss Chou. Plus, you better thank me that you have a few people picking you up at the airport tomorrow."

"Really?! I swear to God, you are the best, Minatozaki Sana."

"I know, I know. Now, can I finally kiss you on the lips? Just for once?"

"No, no, no! Not even once, Sana!"

"Bummer. You're no fun. You're lucky you're pretty."

"You still hang out with me, anyway. And... you find me pretty and cute?"

"Everyone does, sweetheart. Come on, let me see how you can do in Monopoly."

As her orbs watched Sana jump out of the bed to get the box for the board game, Tzuyu couldn't help but to have her heart race in anticipation, not knowing what would happen in the land of South Korea. She didn't know what to expect, what to do or how to react, even - she was at a loss for words when she received the news, but in a good way, of course. Luckily, that dorky flirt, daughter of the Minatozakis was a great help or else, Tzuyu might be in big trouble.

She just had to wait and see... and go with the flow. That was her only intention... for now.
