Saerin struggled balancing the groceries in her hands and was contemplating on how to get into Haknyeon's flat. Ever since that day she went into his flat, she was determined to stock up his house with proper food and cook a nice meal for him on the weekend. Unlike others, he didn't have the warmth of a family around him.
She noticed the door was unlocked and left even slightly ajar and she sighed, shaking her head. Haknyeon's really still a little boy...
She quietly opened the door, looking around. It was still early in the morning and he should be asleep. She was startled to see a figure slumped over the couch and the living room lamp and the television switched on.
He probably fell asleep watching television.... Is he scared of sleeping in the dark alone? Saerin wondered. Or it could be that his room was too messy to sleep in.
She was about to head right for the kitchen but stopped short when she saw the crumpled tissues lining the floor near Haknyeon's sleeping figure.
Was he crying?
Saerin curled her fists uneasily. She considered herself to be a close Friend of Haknyeon's, but she realised he didn't really confide his thoughts in her. He listened to her worries and played with her, but she didn't really know much about his inner thoughts. He was always such a bright and optimistic boy; it never occured to her that he had worries.
She walked towards him and saw his eyes were moist. She bit her lip. What had happened?
"Appa..." he murmured, his lip curling.
Saerin blinked. Why was he talking about his father? He was slightly shivering and she pulled the covers over him, but then his arm reached out and grabbed her arm and he began to snuggle up to it like a bolster.
