Never Leave Me Alone

On My Path

Kisu walked under the bridge and kept walking in the dark. He started breathing faster as he kept walking taking bigger steps. His cheeks turning red when the cold wind came in contact with his skin. His eyes looking at all directions as he saw the house from afar. At last he was now standing in front of the house door. He quickly raised his hand up and knocked on the dark brown wooden door. The door opened and the first thing he saw was Hui with a warm smile on his face, reaching his hand out pointing him to come inside:

"Come in Kisu, I have a present for you"

said the young Chinese and made some space for the other to come in. He even helped Kisu take his jacket off. Sunny days were over and the nights were becoming colder. They sat on the sofa and Hui offered him warm tea, which the other gently accepted. He then started talking to his lover , and when Kisu finished his tea, Hui got up telling him to wait. He walked in the room behind Kisu who was feeling confused. He didn't have to wait long when he felt Hui's hands around his neck tenderly. He placed an expressive diamond necklace around Kisu's neck and sat next to him before talking:

"These kind of expensive necklaces are only given to women. But to me you're as precious as these women are for their husbands. Sometimes there are some males that deserve love, but they don't have it."

his words left Kisu speechless. Indeed, Kisu had never hurt anyone or made any woman feel worthless just because he was a man. He lowered his head and touched the necklace with the tips of his fingers. The sweet moment was quickly over when Kisu shook his head and turned to look at him:

"Wait...how did you find so much money to buy this?"

Kisu was right, he had to know. Hui cut his smile and looked down. Once he got courage he spoke:

"I stole it. I...I'm a thief. I know I should have told you earlier but I didn't want to hurt you. I'm poor, so I had to."

"Hui this is dangerous. If you want money then you have to work"

"They don't accept me since I'm not Korean, and even worse I'm a young man"

"...yes that's true...but now you got some money to start your life again. And I can help you with the job."

"No, I need no help from anyone, I've made it alone in the past and I can do it now."

"Hui...you're hurting me now. Please accept my offer. It's dangerous if you get caught."

Hui looked down and smiled bitterly, 'what an irony' he thought. Instead of hurting Kisu, he felt hurt now. He did anything to avoid others giving him help, yet there he was. Kisu, the one he cared most about, was trying to help him. Waking up from his thoughts, he nodded:

"Ok. I'll accept your offer"

replayed the Chinese boy and watched as slowly a wide smile appeared on Kisu's face. The other hugged him tightly and Hui smiled before hugging him back. Next day, Kisu told his father to hire Hui to help him in his office, while presenting him as his friend. Of course his father accepted his son's offer and Hui could start next day in the morning. This made a big part of disbelief and stress at the back of Hui's head to disappear. The same day in the afternoon, as the couple was the Chinese boy's house, Hui took his lover's hand in his own and headed to Seoul Bridge, watching the beautiful view as they spoke about their future dreams , still holding hands. The view became even more beautiful as it got darker. Their mysterious faces becoming more positive. Kisu looked at Hui in the eyes as his bangs were swinging from the wind:

"Do you promise to stay with me forever?"

"...I promise"

answered Hui smiling. And hugged his lover tightly to assure him. The days of work for Hui started , Kisu also started working at a library. They were both gathering money to give themselves a couple trip. Of course Hui didn't forget to bring Kisu flowers everyday after work, making him leave all the exhaustion and stress behind. On Kisu's side, things were more complicated. He knew a thief, he even dated him. Hui didn't steal only from rich people, that's what made things worse. The right thing to do is to reveal the truth about him, but he couldn't anymore. He had earned Hui's trust, and he had already fallen in love with him. Those thoughts were constantly coming to his mind even when they were out together. If the young Chinese would ask him what he's thinking, he would simply shake his head nodding him nothing. As days, even months , passed Kisu could see the change of his lover. He saw how much he needed the money, and that now he was only concentrated to his job. Kisu smile at his thoughts and decided to forgive Hui. The other had already proved that he deserves a chance. So Kisu offered him to go to the cinema together, and Hui accepted. And once the movie ended Kisu turned to him, getting his attention, and kissed him. His heart beating increased, while Hui felt surprised yet satisfied. As they broke the kiss, they looked each other in the eyes, and Kisu shyly spoke:

"I love you Hui"

"I love you too"

replayed Hui before taking his lover's hand and walked out of the building with him.
