Being new to a school could be fun, but it could also be awkward and for some even the most depressing time in their lives. For Ten it was awkward and he knew his new classmates were talking about him. Some of them weren’t even subtle about talking about him, some even laughed out loud every time he said something in Korean. Ten felt like crap every time they did that. He would always smile in public, but when he retreated to his room he would cry silently, hoping no one heard him. He shared a room with another foreigner, Johnny but he was almost always out and ignored Ten during classes. Ten hoped Johnny would at least talk to him, he spoke English and so did Ten. But Johnny just ignored him. Until at some point Johnny saw him crying. One day Johnny walked in on Ten crying silently, his knees pressed against his chest while he was sitting on his bed. Johnny closed the door and sat down on Ten’s bed while Ten wiped away his tears. Ten tried to get up and run away, but he was stopped by a hand grabbing his wrist. Johnny stood up as well and pulled Ten in for a hug. Ten cried into Johnny’s chest while Johnny was running his fingers through Ten’s hair. “It’s going to get better, I swear.” Johnny said with his low voice.

After that Johnny started talking to Ten. The first time Johnny started talking to Ten was after they were done with PE. Johnny walked up to Ten who was looking for his water bottle that probably got stolen again by one of the other classmates. “Hey, you want some water?” Johnny asked with a kind smile. Ten returned the smile and nodded. “Thanks.” Ten said, almost a whisper. “What is your name?” Johnny asked after Ten gave him his water bottle back. Ten hesitated at first, but then decided to just give Johnny his full name.
