Broken

Description

Broken Things.

Can you fix what's broken?

Why did you break it and just leave without fixing it?

Not even an express of regret ever left your mouth.

Was I just your toy?

Nayoung didn't know what hurts more; Her broken leg or her broken heart.

"I love you"

I read that text over and over again. Is he out of his mind?

"You have Sohye. She is your girlfriend. Why would you send such a text to me?"

Sent.

"Can we meet? You name the place, Nayoung. I'll be there."

"Tokyo Cake Shop in 10 minutes, Namjoon. It's late."

***

I entered the cake shop with a ringing sound of a windchimes as the glass door closed up behind me. Fidgeting with my fingers; nervous. My brown eyes scanned the entire room for a glimpse of silver hair, and there he was, sitting on the sofa at the corner of the room. Under the air conditioner. Our usual spot.

I sat down on the small green sofa next to him, gazing down to my fingers the whole process. I could feel him noticing my presence, but none of us uttered a single word. Both of us knew the sin we're commiting, yet no one dared to mention it out with words.

"I meant every single word I have told you, Nayoung." he began after a while of uncomfortable silence. "And I just wanted to let you know. I don't demand anything from you; nor I expect anything from you in return."

His voice was stern, yet filled with something I believe was doubt.

"I love you, Namjoon." I declared. Tears was b on the rim of my eyes from the hurtful truth I know behind those words. Our love was mutual, yet we couldn't have each other. This love that has no future. This love is something that shouldn't have happened; a mistake; an error in the system.

He smiled as he slowly brought his hands to cup my face. In a single moment, our lips touched gently, slowly, in fear of breaking each other.

"Time is a ." he sighed. "You have no idea how many tears I’ve shed thinking about you; about us. If only we had met sooner...”

I cried.

I have to keep this feeling all to myself. Our moments, the times we shared, from our small trips to the mountain to a simple lunch together, had to be hidden from the world.

Our declaration of love, only us and god knows.

Exchanging phrases of love could only be done behind the curtains; behind closed doors.

Because afterall, you’re Sohye’s.
