On the top of the Aokigahara rested a shrine. In all other circumstances, this shrine was normal. In usual circumstances, this mountain was safe. At least, it was safe once upon a time. A thousand years ago it was a normal mountain with a beautiful, dense forest. It was protected by a fearsome Kitsune who would eat the hearts of any human that desecrated her mountain.

A thousand years ago, her own heart was "eaten", but her spirit lingers in the mountain. She is a Kitsune no more, and the mountain of Aokigahara is no longer the peaceful mountain it once was.
