Let's Just Go!
Nobody Should Get Hurt“Pretty pretty please?”
“Nope! I ain’t going.”
“But I already got you a ticket.”
“You can find a willing fan of theirs to go with you.”
“But it won’t be fun with some random stranger.”
“Have you ever tried it?”
“No, but...”
“No buts.”
BoYoung just rolled her eyes in temporary surrender. It’s been two weeks since she bought the tickets and her foreign friend still adamantly refused to go with her to the EXO concert coming up in a month. This was Exo’Luxion in Seoul and she wouldn’t miss it for the world. Regardless of her friend’s excitement, Sur just wouldn’t budge as she continued packing her things in preparation to leave. She glanced at the wall clock, `phew, only ten minutes to go`.
“You guys aren’t lazing around in petty talk during work hours are you?”
Only then did the two girls notice their manager standing by the door to their shared office.
“No sunbaenim, we wouldn’t dare.” BoYoung responded way too quickly. Sur couldn’t help but nod her head frantically. ChaeWon, their manager, didn’t like it when work slowed down because of silly talks.
“I told you to send me fifty packages of 20 by 0.3mg scopolamine patches a while ago. If the two of you were paying attention to my notifications you’d have gotten that thirty minutes ago. I could hear you,” she pointed a finger towards BoYoung, “pleading incessantly to her,” now finger directed at Sur, “about some silly non-medical stuff.”
BoYoung and Sur looked at each with wide eyes while BoYoung swallowed thickly. This wasn’t good at all. ChaeWon was strict and a bit scary, her beauty hidden behind her straight business face. She took her work seriously and wouldn’t tolerate nonsense. Under that stern mask though, she was a friendly and totally lovable person who cared spans about all the people under her care and supervision. Outside work, she was the sweetest but right now, she was frightening.
“Um, sunbaenim.” Sur fumbled with her hands as she tried to soften up to her. ChaeWon shot an unforgiving glare towards her. “Will you please forgive us this once?” She rubbed her hands together in a begging gesture with the sweetest pout she could manage with her non-cute facial expressions.
ChaeWon’s glare faltered a little. Ever since Sur had joined their pharmacy on an exchange program three months ago, she couldn’t help but warm up to her cheerful and confident personality. Her Korean was heavily accented but well enough for a foreigner who taught herself. Of all her subordinates, her softest spot lay with this one.
“I heard that last week and I’m not bending over this time.”
“Just forgive them this once darling.” ChaeWon stiffened for a millisecond when she felt someone hug her from behind before she realised it was her husband.
“Oppa!” BoYoung literally screamed when she saw her brother. She ran towards him and gave him a hug while Sur bowed to him with a smile on her face. “Oppa you’ve come to save us right?” she asked with the brightest smile before turning towards ChaeWon after making sure the clock had struck five. “Hyeongsu please?”
ChaeWon let out a sigh whilst looking at her husband’s younger sister.
“Just let them be darling. We’ve got a dinner date to attend.” JoongKi said as he rubbed his thumb over his wife’s chin before lifting her face towards his for a kiss. ChaeWon gave in and lifted her hands in a sign of giving up.
“Alright alright. But you guys just got lucky this time, remember that. Tomorrow morning, I want to see those pills in my tray when I come in for work.”
“Yes ma’am!” BoYoung and Sur said in unison while BoYoung did a salute. ChaeWon just laughed while JoongKi dragged her out to go get her things.
“Say hello to umma.” He said as he waved goodbye to the two friends.
As soon as they were gone, Sur gave BoYoung a light smack on her shoulder.
“Ouch!” BoYoung feigned pain as she rubbed the spot she had been smacked vigorously. “Yah! What was that for?”
“That was for almost getting us into trouble.”Sur replied with a less than pleased face. “If your brother hadn’t come in when he did, we’d be in detention right now.”
“I know I know but detention though.” She said with a sift giggle. “My sister in law is the best isn’t she?”
“Um, how is your sister in law the best in this situation?”
“She’s so good at being scary. The manager role suits her well.”
“Yep. She’s the sweetest unnie around but not from 9am to 5pm on workdays.” Sur jumped away when BoYoung pinched her ears. “Yah!” She shot her an accusatory gaze.
“Where does that put me?”
“Where does what put you?” Sur shouted while holding her ear where BoYoung had pinched it.
“If she’s the sweetest unnie around then what am I?” BoYoung couldn’t help the jealousy stricken pout on her face at this moment.
“Oh! That’s what this is about?” Sur said as she laughed. BoYoung just nodded and Sur reached out to cup her cheeks, soothing her pout away. “You’re the bestest, nicest, cutest and my favourite unnie.”
BoYoung smiled in approval before faking a grimace. “Eew, so cheesy.”
“Whatever. Let’s go. I’ll miss my bus.”<
