A series of inconvenient situations
Can I see you?
Another bad day at the recording studio and she was honestly tired, the sound engineer was the only one left but she felt sorry for him and offered and apology as she told him to leave, that she was done for the day. What he didn’t know was that Eunji actually wasn’t planning on leaving yet. An acapella version of the song and for some reason it didn’t sound as she wanted, it felt like she should change the chords somehow but couldn’t really figure it out. After a few more trials, she sat on the floor and took the phone out of her pocket.
Beep…
Beep…
Beep…
“Of course.” A soft whisper after that annoying voicemail sound.
It’s been a few weeks since she’s been talking with her mysterious admirer and they became quite close, like friends. More than once she tried calling the number but he would never pick up, she could text him right after calling and his response wouldn’t take a second, and he kept on saying that he wasn’t going to risk his identity even if it meant being able to talk to her. He did hear the voice messages she left sometimes, only because Eunji said that writing down how she was feeling couldn’t compare to expressing it out loud. And those were the best missing calls he would get, as she knew he was also a singer, sometimes parts of her singing and his opinion were discussed like that. Once again, she called and after she heard the ‘beep’ to leave a message, she started singing. This wasn’t the song she was practicing but her mind couldn’t think of other song at that precise moment.
Sometimes I walk and stop,
And as I look around, my eyes meet with yours
I quickly turn my head away
I look at my feet and then slowly look up
And she stopped every move. Only her breath was heard in the room… on the phone. After she hung up the call her brain tried to process what she just did and the result from that was one alone.
“Yah! I’m going crazy!” Eunji started hitting her head with both hands and eyes tightly closed as she kept cursing at herself. “Maybe he won’t hear it. And if he does he’ll think I was practicing… I mean, that’s what I was doing, right? Right? AGH.” A heavy sigh and she just left the rest of her body crash on the floor, hitting her head at the same time. “Why did I even sing THAT song..?”
BRRRP…
The vibration of her phone was loud enough and all she could do was stare at it with eyes wide open. Faster than expected and her heart definitely wasn’t ready to read what he was going to say. Eunji thought of not reading the text but her curiosity was bigger than that idea, and before she knew her hands were reaching out for the phone, opening kakao and it wasn’t too late to have another heart attack. Suddenly the phone fell from her hands, luckily she was lying on the floor, and she just covered her now bright red face.
Are you singing about me now?
That beautiful voice shouldn’t be wasted on me…
How bad I wish I could hear it live though
Her heartbeat was helping pump all that blood directly to her cheeks, but not wanting to lose and make him think that she fell for those cheesy comment, even when she did, her fingers typed as fast as she could.
Well, if you come to the studio, a private concert I can give
And she send the address after that text, could he fall for it? Would she be able to finally see who he was? All this thoughts working hard on her head trying to figure out his answer since she didn’t receive a response right away like she normally would. Then fear hit. What if he got upset about her being so impatient on meeting him? Or worst… what if after meeting him their friendship ended? A part of her, that she didn’t want to admit yet, wished he still liked her if they met. That was her main reason to meet him. It’s not the same to text someone and actually talk and do things together. She was thinking way too many things now that if her brain had an auto-destruction button she would be dead already. And there it came, another vibration announced the arrival of a reply.
Be there in 15 minutes…
No words could explain what was going inside her mind. Has anyone seen the movie Inside Out? Where they show emotions as little people inside our heads? Well, every single person inside her head stayed in shock for at least five seconds before breaking out in a celebration. And those fifteen minutes seemed like an eternity to her. But fifteen minutes could be well spent singing, three songs later she would be finally able to see the guy who stole most of her thoughts.
He arrived in ten minutes, as there was no traffic thanks to the late hours and he caugh
