Wrist to Wrist

The Manuscript and The Security Guard

The day was cold with darkened clouds that filled the sky. A chilly gust of air wrapped itself around the man that walked rapidly towards the entrance of the terminal gate inside an airport. His legs picked up the pace as he heard the voice of a woman calling for boarding passes. Kyungsoo was a college graduate that had been given a chance to decipher the Voynich manuscript, which not many can say they've experienced. The previous student mostly stuttered out gibberish, until he finally agreed to decipher the historical artifact. The Voynich manuscript was a landmark in many researchers’ lives. Numerous people had gathered year’s worth of information, but not a single soul had been able to unlock the key to the manuscript. Kyungsoo had been able to board the plane and get through the trip all within five hours, but not before he almost vommited due to the food served on the plane. He was now headed to the immense building that lay ahead of him. Once Kyungsoo was settled in, he began to make his observations. He would finally make his attempt to unlock the code to the Voynich manuscript.

After working for twelve hours and consuming four cups of coffee, Kyungsoo was still trying to figure out the secrets of the extrinsic artifact. No matter how tired he was, he would persevere to keep on working. Kyungsoo’s classmate had taken away his chance to see the Voynich manuscript a few years back, but now was his time to make a shocking discovery that would make headlines.

Six hours later, Kyungsoo was sleeping with his head on the table and a small pile of drool seeping out of his lips. He didn't notice when the security guard that stood outside entered the room. Jongin, or Kai as the people on his planet liked to call him, took a seat across from Kyungsoo. It was no question that Jongin was an alien; although, he preffered the term "extraterrestrial". He thought that human's ideas of aliens were dumb and quite foolish since his kind were exactly like human; the only difference between humans and Jongin's kind was that they had some extra abbilities. Jongin had been following Kyungsoo around ever since the young man was a junior in college. Sure, that sounds a bit creepy, but Jongin had needed to get information to his planet's officials or he'd be a dead man extraterrestrial. The longer Jongin watched the man, the more he began to harbor feelings for him. To him, Kyungsoo was the epitome of perfection. Charming smiles and glassy eyes of the said man made Jongin weak to his knees while butterflies swirled in his stomach. He had seen how Kyungsoo was a hard worker, and watched from outside the door window as his crush became frustrated with understanding the manuscript.

Jongin moved closer to the man and picked up the papers that Kyungsoo was decoding before he fell asleep.

"Oh..." said Jongin as he realized what he was looking at. The paper's were old documents that his planet had thrown away. They were trash, really. The paper's were just old blueprints for how the capital city on Jongin's planet would look, but everyone decided that it was too ugly to look at.

With a somewhat sigh and a chuckle, Jongin decided to make a choice that was supposedly illegal on his planet. He was going to give Kyungsoo the abiltity to understand his planet's language. The language itself wasn't exactly based on written characters, but was based on the concept of the mind. Basically, the mind of a person would automatically decipher the written letters on the paper without the person himself doing any work. Then information could be gathered from one person to another and collected through wrists. There was a small organ located in the wrists of Jongin's people. The organ could latch onto another person's wrost and a link would be formed. The idea was quite genius if you asked Jongin himself. Jongin lifted Kyungsoo's hands, and lined their wrists together. The process of the whole thing was to complicated for Jongin to think about. All he knew was that if he lifted a person's wrist to his wrist, he could transfer his knowledge to another person. Blue light surrounded Kyungsoo soon Jongin was fighting through the pain that shot up his arm. He had never experienced linking with another person, or anyone for that matter. Once a few minutes had passed, the blue light diminished and Jongin saw the other male move around in his sleep. With a smile, Jongin left the room and returned to his spot outside the door.

Kyungsoo quickly sat up after he had fully awaken himself. He had just dreamt of the most handsome man holding his hand. After realizing he must have fallen asleep, sighed out in frustration. He only had a time limit of 3 more hours to decipher the manuscript. He was doomed now. The biggest chance in the world had just slipped through his fingers just becuase his body decided to fall asleep.

"... I'm so screwed. I thought that 4 cups of coffee would've been enought to keep me awake. What the hell am I supposed to do now?!"

Slowly picking up the papers with a frown, his eyes scanned the papers. Suddenly he understood everything. His mouth became slightly ajar. He could understand how the manuscript talked about some capital city called "Oxene", and how the rivers and plants were supposed to be planted outside the capital walls.

"I can’t believe it. This is unbelievable!”.

Kyungsoo rushed outside of the room, and came in contact with the feeling of warmth. Looking up, he saw an alluring smile and tanned skin.

"Holy . Y-you're the man from my dream!"

"I'm the man of your dreams?" the man, Jongin ( Kyungsoo's eyes noticed his name tag) said aloud.

"No, I meant- Well, yeah you are really atractive and stuff. Anyways, I meant that saw your face in my dream when I fell asleep in the room earlier."

"Oh... It's nice to hear that someone finds me attractive. Why are you in such a rush at... 8 in the morning?" chuckled Jongin.

"You won't believe it, but I just deciphered the Earth's most unknown document haha... I'm sorry, but do you mind driving me to the city council? I don't know my way around this place, but it's important that I tell someone my discovery."

"Sure, but after that can I take you out for lunch?"

"Um, yeah. I'd like that." Kyungsoo answered with one of those chamring smiles that Jongin loved so much.

That's the story of how Kyungsoo deciphered the world's most mysterious document (with a little lot of help from a security guard), and ended up with a extraterrestrial boyfriend a few months later.

It had been 5 years ever since Jongin and Kyungsoo had gotten together. They were happily engaged, and Kyungsoo cried his heart out when he saw Jongin down on one knee. Kyungsoo was still a historian and geographer, while Jongin was still a security guard. Only this time, they both lived in South Korea.

They were both currently laying down on their bed and were talking about how Jongin flew all the way to Europe just to watch Kyungsoo decipher the Voynich manuscript. Then Kyungsoo asked something that made Jongin turn red.

"Jongin... is it true that you can get males pregnant?"
