Playing the piano in one of SM Entertainment's practice rooms, you think about Valentine's Day that's coming up in two days. 

I wonder if Mark will confess his love for me, you think to yourself, Ah stop it, Ji Hyun! He loves Herin. Your little daydream makes you mess up what you're playing on the piano, and you groan. 

"Hey! Stop messing up! I can hear you from the dance practice room!" Mark says to you, walking into the room.

Mark has been your best friend these past 4 years, but last year, you finally realized that you're in love with him. You're in love with the Mark Lee from NCT that everybody loves. You think he likes Herin though, especially because they knew each other much longer than you've known Mark. He always talks about her, too. 

"Yah! I can feel you messing up your dance, too!" you reply, playfully punching him in the arm. 

"Anyways, Valentine's Day is coming up and NCT is having a dinner. Each member is supposed to invite someone, so I'm inviting you," he says. 

"Why didn't you invite Herin?" you ask, crossing your arms. 

"I was going to invite her, but then I realized that you would make a better ," he says with a wink. 

You laugh, "Okay, I"ll go if you insist, Mr. Lee." 

"It's in the room where all of us celebrate occasions. I'll meet you there at 7pm, okay?" he tells you. You nod and smile. He walks out of the room and you slump in your seat. Ugh, somebody probably invited Herin already so he just had to ask me, you think to yourself, rolling your eyes so hard you feel like your contact might have popped out. You pack up your stuff and go back to your dorm. You're roommates with Koeun, the oldest of the minirookies girls. She's your girl best friend, and whenever Mark wasn't being the very best friend, she was always there for you. She also knows that you love Mark. You unlock the door and you see Herin eating ramen. 

"Ramen for dinner?" you ask, knowing that it's so unhealthy for your guys' diet. 

"There was no food!" she argues, laughing right after. 

"Okay, okay," you laugh, "Ah, did you get invited to the NCT dinner thing in two days?" 

She nods and replies, "Yeah. Jaemin invited me, because he wanted his noona to be his ." She rolls her eyes and you laugh. 

"Erm...Mark asked me," you quietly say, making her stop eating and get out of her seat. 

"What?! Really?! That's great! I'm so happy for you!" Koeun enthusiastically says, giving you a hug. 

"Who asked Herin?" you ask her, getting worried that you were just Mark's last resort. 

"No one yet! I actually just asked her right before you came," she smiles. 

You smile to yourself and you feel a lot better. Ah, so I wasn't really Mark's last resort, you think. 

               Finally, the day had come, and it's finally Valentine's Day. It's 6:15, so that gives you a lot of time to get ready. You put on makeup and you wear a cute, light pink, lace dress that Koeun had lent to you a couple years ago. You just never had the chance to wear it.                                      

"Ji Hyun! Let's walk to the company now!" you hear Koeun say. You walk out of the bathroom and smile. 

"My donsaeng looks so pretty! I'm sure Mark will fall in love with you tonight," she tells you. You both walk to the comapny and go up the elevator to the room where the dinner is being held. The NCT boys are all waiting outside. You are surprised that some of the NCT members even invited EXO or Super Junior members. Mark is wearing a nice button-up shirt with a tie and his sleeves are rolled up. Your heart nearly melts when he approaches you. 

"Let's go. I'm taking you somewhere," he tells you. 

"Wh-what?" you stutter, so confused about what's going on. You look at everybody who's about to go in for the dinner, and they're all smiling at you. Even Koeun is smiling, and you don't know why. 

"Just come with me," he whispers, grabbing your hand. You can hear everybody squeal as he drags you to the elevator. 

You both go down the elevator and you ask him, "Yah! Mark Lee! What about the dinner?" 

"It's fine. Just trust me," he assures you as you walk to the car. He drives and smiles at you every now and then, and you start to feel confused yet happy. He finally parks his car and you see that you've arrived at a park. He opens your door and holds your hand. 

"Why are you holding my hand all of a sudden?" you ask him, not minding it though. He just continues to smile and he snaps his fingers. All of a sudden, the whole park lights up and the trees are filled with lights. 

"Mark, did you do all of this?" you ask him, still in shock, "Mark? Mark?!" You yell his name, because he's nowhere to be found. 

"Ji Hyun," you hear Mark's voice. You turn around and Mark is holding a rose. 

"What are you doing?" you ask him, your heart pounding so hard that you think it's gonna pop out of your chest. 

"I...I've been meaning to tell you this for a while...uh....," he stutters, looking down, but he still continues, "I like you. No, I love you. A lot. We've been friends for such a long time and we have so many memories that I realized that I love you and I can't live without you." 

You stand there in so much shock, and your heart continues to beat even harder. 

"Mark," you start to say, "I thought you...liked Herin. You always talked about her in the past." 

"Herin? No! I don't like her at all! I just talked about her a lot, because she's my friend and I had to help her with a lot of things. She went through quite a lot these past couple years, so I just had to help her. I have no feelings for her at all. I like you, Ji Hyun," he explains. 

"Oh," you say, starting to smile, "Well, I thought this was a one-sided love, but I love you, too." 

Mark gives you the rose and says, "I promise you I will never hurt you and you'll be the girl I love no matter what." 

You're speechless so you just decide to hug him and he tightly hugs you back. 

After the hug, he looks at you and leans in. He kisses you lightly on the lips and you kiss him back. Just as you two kiss, a banner appears in the sky saying "Ji Hyun, I love you. Happy Valentine's Day". You end the kiss and you both smile. 

"Happy Valentine's Day," he kneels down and opens up a box. Inside the box, there's a gold necklace with a small tiara pendant with a heart inside. 

"Will you be my girlfriend?" he asks you, still kneeling down. 

"Yes, of course!" you reply. He stands up and puts the necklace around your neck. Mark hugs you again and kisses you on the forehead. Fireworks start to appear in the sky, and you and him lie down on the grass watching it, holding hands. 

And that was the happiest day of your life. When the boy you've loved and been friends with for so long, finally became yours.
