(Prompt #51, Asylum, and Prompt #36, Mute)

Jung Jaehyun has heard voices in his head since he was six. Some days, the voices were no more than a subtle whisper, a dull throb in the back of his mind. Other days, they were piercing shrieks. The voices kept him up late at night and never went away. Growing up as an illegitimate child, unwanted and unloved, he was never told it was unusual to hear voices.

Yet now, fifteen years later, he sits in a creaking metal bed in the west wing of SM Asylum for the Mentally Disturbed.

Kim Doyoung, on the other hand, is mute. An untold, unheard story in his past has marred him, and thus, he refuses to speak. At the last hospital he was placed at, he stabbed one of the nurses who had attended to him. Of course, he wasn’t without reason. The nurse hadn’t approach him kindly, and proceed to attempt to him. So he stabbed her.

He never told his side of the story. After all, who would believe a boy in the psychiatric ward?

What an odd pair they make, the one who’s lost his voice to time, and the one always surrounded by a never ending wave of voices.
