The peaceful silence in the Jung's household got interrupted by a loud noise once again. This time, it was the sound of glass shattering on tiles coming from the kitchen. Alarmed by the sound, Mrs. Jung walked into the kitchen and was greeted by glass shards on the floor with a ball in the middle. Her son was standing a few feet away and looked at the mess with wide eyes. "What happened here again? Wasn't breaking a plate last week enough for a while?" the woman asked and let a sigh escape her pretty lips. At those words, the boy shook his head frantically and also waved his hands in front of his body. "No mom! That wasn't me! The ghost was here again and stole my ball to play around and made the glass fall!" Mrs. Jung ran a hand over her face and wondered how she could make her son Jaehyun stop talking nonsense. It was obvious that he was playing in the kitchen because of the heavy rain outside.
She couldn't remember when it started but it had been a while since the boy blamed his ghost for everything. The woman didn't know about any traumatising events either, so why was he being like that even though he was already nineteen years old?
While the two were talking, someone sat on the kitchen counter and listened with a frown. 'How dare he blaming me again? That little brat needs to be taught a lesson.' he thought before disappearing with a smirk.
A few days later, Jaehyun was sitting on his bed and pretending to be studying for an upcoming test but all he did was just stare at the words on the page that didn't make sense at all in his opinion. The boy got ripped out of his train of thoughts though as the book in front of him lifted a few inches without him touching it. Jaehyun blinked a few times in confusion but the book just got lifted a bit higher by an unknown force, so the male jumped up as fast as he could and ran downstairs while calling for his mom. "Mom! Mom, my book was flying! Just.. just like that!" Jaehyun told her with wild gestures. "Calm down, Jaehyun. Maybe it was your ghost who wants to punish you for accusing him." Oh how badly he wanted to tell her that ghosts don't exist and that there is no ghost with him. He couldn't do that though because it would blow his cover, so he just nodded before going back upstairs to his room just to see the book resting on his bed like before. "Weird.. I was so sure that it was flying. Was I just imaging it?" Jaehyun talked to himself. "Maybe you were, maybe not?" The words were being whispered by seemingly no one and came from behind him, sending a shiver down his spine and letting goosebumps appear on his arms. There was a chuckle that brough Jaehyun to the edge of freaking out and it just amused the invisible creature more. "Aww, is little Jaehyunnie scared of me after being a brat for a while? It's dangerous to blame strangers, you know." The creature said with a playful but at the same time scolding tone in his voice. The boy was too afraidof moving and just waited for the stranger to get bored and leave but it had the opposite effect. "If you apologize properly, I might have mercy on you and maybe show myself so that you know what your ghost looks like." The ghost offered while walking around the boy who gulped before replying. "F-fine, I'm sorry for blaming you. I didn't think that you would exist for real." The ghost shook his head. "Tsk. I only asked for an apology and not an excuse. Now you'll have to do something else. Let's see~ hm.." he hummed before he had a great idea. "Find me in a game of hide and seek!" Jaehyun shook his head at the mention of the game that seemed impossible. "How can I find a ghost who is hiding when he is invisible? I don't even have to try." The ghost laughed softly because this answer had already been expected. "Just do it and you will see. Would you try if I'd tell you my name too once you find me?" The human thought of the chances again but getting to know his ghost's name was tempting enough to agree. "Just count till ten and then start looking." The ghost sounded excited and entered the bathroom with soundless to hide behind the door and make himself visible for the boy who counted just like he was told.
Jaehyun was done with counting and looked around first to see if there was any hint. To his luck, the door of the bathroom for this room was a bit wider open than usual and he walked over to it, opening it completely and gasping at the sight. Before him stood a pale male with delicate features, big eyes and rosy, kissable lips. The boy was surprised to find someone who fitted his ideal type and felt his heart beating a lot faster, joined by butterflies flying around wildly inside of his stomach. "You found me. See? It wasn't that difficult, you brat. I guess I need to introduce myself properly now, don't I? The name's Doyoung and I'm your ghost. Nice to finally be able to talk to you, Jaehyunnie." The boy just stared at the ghost called Doyoung and without thinking voiced out his thoughts. "Wow you're totally my style. I wanna date you!" Once he realised what he just said, a pink blush decorated his cheeks and made the ghost chuckle. "I'm glad that you think like that and you are pretty handsome but I think that we should wait a bit with the dating part. Wanna prank your mom first instead?" Both grinned cheekily before preparing for a prank that neither the two of them nor Mrs. Jung would ever forget. Let's just say that the males had a lot of fun while Jaehyun's mom almost got a heart attack.
That's how Jaehyun found out that ghosts really exist and that they are the best prank buddies that you can ever wish for.
