“What would it be like…” Byulyi trailed off, not continuing her sentence, despite knowing perfectly well that the person beside her would be persistent about it.
Wheein was someone too curious to live with unfinished words and untold stories.
Byulyi laughed affectionately, feeling the steady gaze on her.
“I’m just wondering out loud.”
“Why don’t you continue wondering then?”
“Because those are my thoughts.”
“Sharing is caring.”
“My thoughts belong to me.”
Wheein fell silent, but every breath sounded more prominent to Byulyi. Wheein wouldn’t get to her this time, not this time.
What would it be like, if we were to be in another universe. Where time stops, starts and resets as we want? What if we could fall in love once, twice, thrice, infinitely?
Wheein’s voice slipped in, through the gap in Byulyi’s thoughts. “What are you thinking?”
“Nothing, I’m zoning out.”
“Tell me what you’re wondering.”
“Wondering about your beauty.”
Wheein snorted, routinely ignoring the compliment because that was how Byulyi usually behaved anyway.
What if, in another universe, we were to fall in love?
Wheein would be persistent, Byulyi was very sure. That was until Wheein’s obnoxiously loud ringtone pierced her thoughts.
That changed everything.
“Oh, Yongsun unnie!”
Too bright, too cheery, too in love.
Byulyi shut down the thoughts of another universe.
We are in this universe, after all.
