Tick, tock, tick, tock...

Click-click-click-click-click...

In a dark room with a glowing computer screen, that's where Lee Jinki was.

It was much too late for his liking, but he had an assignment due at midnight and he was still working at fixing his compiler errors. He cursed inwardly, wishing that he had started the assignment much earlier than he did. But, that's what he said every week. Every week he recieved a new assignment and every week he ended up staying up late the night each said assignment was due.

Jinki was smart, very smart to say the least. He graduated high school at the top of his class and managed to get accepted into Seoul National University of Science and Technology. Naturally, he ended up going there. Of course, with his CSAT scores getting into any school was no problem.

This was the college his mother had always dreamed he would get into. Lee Jinki loved his mother, he really did. He loved his mother with all his heart and soul. However even with the amount of love he had for her, deep in his heart he knew he resented her. Not because of her personality, no. His mother was the sweetest human being you could ever meet. No, the reason Lee Jinki felt this way was because he absolutely detested computer science.

Lee Jinki couldn't stand staring at a computer screen for so long, it hurt his eyes. But for the major he was going for, it required him to be in front of a computer at least 10 hours a day (and this doesn't even include the time he spends in front of it for other classes). He even had to start wearing his glasses again because if he was wearing his contacts, he could only last two hours tops looking at his computer screen.

Lee Jinki desperately wanted to tell his mother how he felt. He wanted to scream that he hated computer science, that he hated computers. He would have thrown the damn thing out the window a long time ago if his mother hadn't spent a whoe ₩1,250,000 (that equates to about $1,250) on it.

The only thing he could do now was work hard and hope that his efforts would be worth it in the end.

Maybe I can learn to love it...

That's what Lee Jinki thought.

Second quarter's finals were completed and Jinki finally got some time off to himself. Normally, Jinki would be spending time with his mother over the break; but this month she and her friends decided to go on a trip to Boracay, Philippines. Of course, this meant that Jinki had the house all to himself. However, instead of staying at home all the time he decided to drive up to Seoul. Of course he went up there to go to school every day, but never had he had the time to really look around the big city. But where should he go today? He could go to Myeong-dong, Coex Mall, Hongdae, Itaewon...

After driving around for a good hour, Jinki finally stopped at Yeouido Park. He had always wanted to go there and he was desperately in need of exercise so a walk in the park would do him some good. Jinki quickly stumbled out of his car and fumbled with his keys, pressing the lock button a few times to ensure his car was locked. Finally, he set off for his walk around the park.

Jinki smiled and took in a breath of fresh air, starting to walking down one of the trails. Between the sound of the leaves of the trees rustling in the wind, the birds chirping, and the shade covering him, Jinki felt completely at peace. As he walked down the path, he saw other people. From little children laughing and playing as they ran from their mothers, to ajummas gossiping. He chuckled as he observed a group of young boys playing basketball, reminding him of his middle school days.

After walking a little farther, Jinki found a bench away from all the people and the noise and opted to sit down. Leaning back in the chair slightly, Jinki smiled and let out a long sigh. He closed his eyes and smiled a little, slouching a little against the back of the bench. Jinki quickly got lost in his thoughts, thinking about what he would eat later, thinking about how relieved he was school was over...

Click! Click!

Jinki opened his eyes and jumped up out of his seat quickly, startled by the sudden noise.

- I-I'm sorry sir, I didn't meant to wake you!

After regaining his composure Jinki's eyes fell on a boy with messy brown hair holding a camera, whom currently had the expression of a deer caught in the headlights. It was quite a funny sight really, but at the same time it was quite adorable.

- It's okay, I wasn't sleeping... But what was that, did you take my picture?

Jinki mentally facepalmed, he shouldn't have said that. Maybe the kid was just taking pictures of scenery nearby... But then why would the boy be standing right in front of him?

- Ah, yeah, you caught me... You see sir, my final is to take pictures of things in their natural state which is why I didn't ask first... I-I meant to ask for your consent before actually using it for my project, but, um, yeah... I-I can delete it right now if you want!

The boy fumbled with his camera a little bit, trying to find the delete function, but Jinki stopped him.

- No, it's okay kid. If it's for an assignment I'm glad that I could be of some help to you!

Jinki smiled and the boy's eyes lit up.

- O-Oh, thank you sir! I'm Choi Minho by the way... A first year at Konkuk University!

- Nice to meet you Minho, I'm Lee Jinki and I'm a third year at Seoul National University of Science and Technology.

Minho's eyes widened upon hearing the name of the prestigious school, and Jinki offered his hand for the boy to shake. Minho slowly grasped Jinki's hand shaking it shyly, earning him a smile from the latter.

- A first year, huh? Do you have any idea what you're going to major in yet?

- Y-Yes sir, I'm going to major in arts and culture film... How about you?

- Me? Um... Computer science. Is filming and photography something you enjoy doing?

The boy's eyes lit up once again as he nodded in excitement.

- Yes, I love it so much! Someday, I dream of becoming a great filmmaker and photographer!

Jinki couldn't help but feel taken aback by what the boy said. Minho's dream wouldn't exactly... Guarantee him a successful future. Yet he chose to pursue it anyways? Jinki started to think a little bit, but what Minho said next is what really made him think.

- You must like computer science then, huh? Is your dream to become an awesome programmer Mr. Jinki? That's so awesome!

Is that your dream?

Is that your dream?

Is that your dream?

- No... It's not.

- Then what is your dream?

This was a new feeling for Jinki. Nobody ever asked him what he had really wanted before. Upon hearing he was going for a degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering, whoever was listening would simply praise him before going on and talking about what a good field it was to be in nowadays. Just being asked what he wanted filled Jinki with happiness and brought tears to his eyes.

- M-Mr. Jinki?? I'm sorry, I should've never asked!

The boy looked at him sadly, but the older man just shook his head.

- No, Minho... Thank you. Nobody's ever asked me that before. Actually... I want to be a singer.

- A singer...?

Minho's tone scared him slightly, and he was preparing to be talked down on, but it never came. Instead, he felt a hand pat his back gently, and in that moment Jinki felt a warm and fuzzy feeling in his heart.

- I think that's a wonderful dream Mr. Jinki.

- Hyung...

- Hm?

- You... Call me Jinki hyung.

01110000 01110101 01110011 01101000

- So why don't you pursue your dream?

- What do you mean?

It had been a year since Jinki and Minho had met each other, and they constantly met by that same place in Yeouido Park whenever they had time. This was one of those days and the atmosphere was a little serious.

- You told me what it was... Why don't you try? I've heard you sing and you sound wonderful... Why haven't you gone and started pursuing it yet?

- I'm afraid of what my mother would say...

Another year had passed and Jinki still hadn't told his mother how he felt and about his dream, despite the constant nagging from Minho to tell her.

- How long are you going to be afraid hyung? I can't stand seeing you this unhappy anymore!

- Maybe another day Minho.

- But that's what you say every time!

At this point Minho was standing with his arms crossed. He had an annoyed expression, one that Jinki rarely saw.

- Just give it time Minho, I'll tell her eventually--

- Another day never comes, Jinki hyung! You always say another day, another day... When are you going to finally put yourself first?

- I'm not ready yet, I'll tell her when I'm ready. Besides, why does it matter to you anyways? It's my life so out!

Jinki immediately regretted what he said the moment he saw the expression on Minho's face. He looked hurt, sad, upset...

- If me caring about you is such a burden, then fine! Go live your life just to please others and get your damn salary. But don't come crying to me if you feel miserable in the future!

Minho picked up his camera bag, starting to walk away. Jinki grabbed his arm to stop him out of instinct, but also because he didn't want Minho to go. Minho was the first person he had ever trusted with his true feelings and that was a big deal to him.

- Wait, Minho--

- Save it hyung, call me when you finally grow some balls and decide that you're going to live your life the way you want to!

The boy jerked his arm away and walked away quickly, leaving Jinki alone with an empty feeling in his heart.

- Jinki-ssi, you're on in 5! Are you ready?

- Yes, I'm standing by!

It had taken a lot of hard work and a lot of sacrifice, but Jinki had finally made it. Three years later and Jinki was now the hottest solo artist in Korea. Jinki told his mother how he felt and about his dream. At first she had gotten angry at him, but that was only because she wished he had told her before he spent four years in college studying something he wasn't passionate about. In the end, Jinki's mother became his biggest fan; she would always support her son no matter what.

Now, he was on the stage ready to sing the title track of his comeback album "In Your Eyes".

- I would like to dedicate this song to a good friend of mine... They know who they are. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be here today.

And with that, Jinki began to sing the slow ballad, earning him cheers and bringing tears to the eyes of any spectators.

Remember that day when we first met
Dazzling and radiant eyes and gave me such a day
Thank you for what you gave me

Every word Jinki sang, he meant. He just wished the person whom he was singing to was there to hear, was there to see... That he had finally achieved his dream because of one little push from the person he held most dear to his heart.

01110010 01100101 01110101 01101110 01101001 01101111 01101110

Another year went by and Jinki continued on with his career, winning the hearts of many with his sweet voice and beautiful ballads. As happy as he was to be achieving his dreams, there was something missing. More like somebody... Now it's been four years since he last saw Minho, and Jinki missed the boy dearly. He often wondered how he grew up and if he ever achieved his dream of becoming a great photographer and film maker.

Jinki had just finished doing a fansign at Coex mall and was currently at Yeouido Park, sitting on the bench where he first met Minho. Partly he was just here to relax, but the other part of him secretly wished Minho would show up so he could apologize for being so hard-headed.

He started to reminisce about all the times he came to this place to see Minho, remembering all the fun times they had. Even if they just spent most of the time talking, that was the thing Jinki liked most about Minho; he could tell Minho absolutely anything. Jinki lingered there for awhile before sighing softly, standing. He had no other schedules for the day but he figured it would be best if he left and went home before he was spotted by any fans that might be in the area.

Jinki's eyes widened, startled by the sudden noise of a camera. Initially he thought it was paparazzi, but usually paparazzi had their cameras on a silent mode. Jinki looked around and his breath hitched in his throat when his almond eyes locked with familiar doe eyes that were crinkled into a smile.

- Hi Mr. Jinki, I hope you don't mind that I took your photo...~

The doe-eyed boy laughed lightly, the laughter being like music to Jinki's ears. The boy had obviously matured. Despite the fact that the boy was now taller than himself, Jinki couldn't help but still see him as that young boy he had met all those years ago. Quickly, Jinki rushed over and crushed him in a hug.

- Minho I did it, I achieved my dream. Please don't go again, please, please...

There were tears in Jinki's eyes, and he refused to let go of Minho. Eventually, the taller boy returned the elder's hug, smiling lightly.

- Don't worry hyung, I'm not going anywhere this time... I'm proud of you. Really, I am.

Jinki felt relief wash over him and gave Minho a smile of his own.

- Good, because I won't ever let you go again.

- Jinki hyung, this sounds like a line from a cheesy romance movie--

- That's what I'm going for.

- What?

The younger boy stared at Jinki in confusion, searching his eyes for an answer. When it finally clicked, he gasped a little.

- Jinki, wait... But your career...

Jinki shook his head frustratedly.

- I don't care about that! If you're not with me, none of this is worth it. I can't let you go again Minho, I just can't!

- And I can't let you risk this hyung, you worked so hard... Mmpff-!!

At that moment Jinki couldn't take it anymore. He couldn't hold back his feelings any longer and kissed the younger boy. He didn't care about who might be watching and he didn't care about his career. All that didn't matter if he couldn't share his happiness with the one who made this all possible. Jinki kept his lips on Minho's for a few moments longer before pulling back. Minho clearly looked flustered.

- ...

- ...

- ...

- Hyung...?

- Yeah?

- Wh-What was that...?

- Minho, you're my new dream... Please make it come true?

- Gosh this really sounds like a chick flick now--

- I'm serious.

- ...

- Minho?

- Y-Yes...

The younger buried his head into the elder's chest, the two of them holding each other.

You're my dream

And you're mine
