1/1

Happy Anniversary!

Yongguk was devastated, really. He'd been spending hours and hours of brainstorming, figuring out the perfect present for their anniversary but unfortunately came out with nothing.

A romantic dinner? Already did that. A surprise party with balloons and banners? Too childish (even though the both of them were childish sometimes). Anniversary pranks? Junhong hated pranks. The last thing Yongguk wanted was to make the younger angry on their special day.

He rested his head on top of his crossed arm on his work table, sighing in grief, feeling like he failed on planning the best first anniversary for his husband, the love of his life.

A muffled voice came from the other side of the room followed by soft knocks. Yongguk stood up straight when the door was flung open by his husband, a wide smile plastered on his face.

"Ready to go home, honey?" Junhong asked, gripping his laptop bag in his right hand, a few files on his left. Junhong was just starting his new job as a lawyer after doing so well in college, Yongguk was so proud for him.

The best thing was they got to work in the same law firm. Yongguk stood up, stretching his stiff muscles. Junhong already walked out of his office, probably went to the parking lot to put the files in the car.

Yongguk checked his watch, it was nearly seven o'clock in the evening, he only stayed this late in the office because he wanted to wait for Junhong, that boy sure loved woking for extra hours.

He grabbed his bag and things from the table, ready to exit the comfort of his office, when he saw the frame on his work table. It was a picture of him and his husband, during their trip to Italy months ago.

Something sparked inside of him, a warm smile spreading across his face. It was a nice memory, travelling around the world with his lover and proposing to him on the eighth day.

People had praised his thoughtful way of proposing and saying that Junhong was lucky to marry him. Yongguk had never been proud of his attempts to show his love towards the other, he simply wanted to show him his true feelings.

And that was how much he loved Junhong, enough to spend thousands of dollars just to propose because he knew Junhong was his from the very start. Junhong was his other half, his everything.

A few moments of just staring at their smiling faces, a thought crossed Yongguk's mind. What if-! The lawyer snapped his fingers, grinning to himself like a maniac when all of a sudden a loud cough came from the doorway.

"Are you done being a dork because I have a party to attend to at nine." Junhong had his arms crossed, a look of disapprovement plastered on his face. Yongguk just gave him the infamous gummy smile, knowing it would melt the other's heart.

It was totally working when Junhong let out a slight giggle, sending Yongguk a flirtatious wink towards him before walking out again. Yongguk grinned while following his tail, plotting his plan in his head.

Junhong had to attend that party of his and Yongguk would have enough time to sort things out. Hopefully he would get all things figured out on time before Junhong comes back from the party.

"Where are you going?" Junhong raised an eyebrow, looking rather confused when he saw Yongguk fully dressed, an average sized bag slung across his shoulders.

It was past midnight and he was exhausted. He had just came back from a house party, hosted by an old friend from college.

Christmas was approaching and they would be celebrating their first anniversary as husbands precisely three days before it. He thought that he could actually cuddle with his husband until he fall asleep but seemed like Yongguk had other plans.

"Uh, I have something to do. I might not be here for our anniversary. But I will be here for Christmas, don't worry sweetheart." Yongguk's tone was filled with regret, he didn't want to do this but he had vowed to give his beloved the best anniversary present ever, so he proceeded with the plan.

Junhong's eyes turned sad at his husband's words, he knew how busy Yongguk could be, but the other male always made time for him, but why not now? It was their first anniversary, it was important!

"Okay, at least tell me where you're going!" The younger of the two protested as he saw Yongguk sitting on the floor in front of their front door, tying the shoelaces of his expensive looking shoes.

Yongguk grabbed the younger's wrist before pulling him down, locking their lips soon after. It felt magical; it was insane that a single kiss from his lover could make him feel like that, even after so many years they had been together.

The kiss was broken off seconds later but neither of them wanted to. "Just know that I won't flirt with someone else." Yongguk sent a playful grin and Junhong just had to smack his shoulder.

That earnedarrow-10x10.png a hearty laugh from the older. "Oh, before I go." Yongguk brought out a small envelope from his jacket pocket. "Don't open this envelope before the 17th. Open it after you wake up on the 17th, okay?"

Junhong nodded and after sharing a last kiss with his husband, Yongguk disappeared through the front door.

It was the 17th of December and the first thing Junhong did after waking up from his not-so-good sleep was reaching out to his bedside table and grabbing the envelope Yongguk had given him before he left him for his work a week ago.

Junhong was beyond curious about the envelope. He had asked their boss about Yongguk's sudden disappearance but the older man just smiled at him, saying Yongguk was dealing with some cases right now. Junhong couldn't do anything about it and just swallow the information without further questions.

These few days made him sitting alone at work, worrying for his husband, whether he was doing fine or was he eating well. Heck- was he even eating was the real question here.

Junhong knew his lover could overwork himself, always forgetting to take his meals from time to time. Junhong was just glad that he was there to take care of the old man, who is beloved husband.

The young man began to unseal the envelope carefully, trying his best to not make it tear. His fingers were rubbing his eyes as he held up the average sized piece of paper to his eye level with his other hand, clearing his vision so he could read better.

Dear Junhong,

If you're reading this, I'm telling you to pack your clothes and
things up now because you're travelling to some countries.
I'm not telling you which countries yet, I'm just going to tell you
that your first stop is Spain. So pack your things and see you soon!

Your husband.

P/S: Text me when you arrived in Madrid.

Junhong chuckled to himself as he kept reading the neatly handwritten letter by Yongguk, the plane ticketarrow-10x10.png to Madrid, Italy in between his index and middle fingers. "What is he planning now?"

He mumbled under his breath as got off of bed, pitting the plane ticketarrow-10x10.png on his bedside table, along with the torn envelope. He had about five hours before his flight to a foreign city, in a foreign country and he had no idea what his husband was planning.

Junhong decided he would take a quick shower just to refresh his tensed muscles and probably to stay fresh because he knew a flight to Madrid took more than twenty four hours; he wasn't looking forward to it.

But Junhong knew his lover had done something special for the both of us, and even though it caused him a severe headache and jetlags he would manage it.

He can't make Yongguk cancel his plans, not that he would of course. The shower was nothing but relaxing and the young man quickly pack his things, grabbing random shirts, jeans and hoodies.

He had finally done with his suitcase and heaved a contented sigh, reaching out for his phone on the bed to make a call to his boss. The third ring and the call was answered.

Junhong greeted his boss with politeness and ready to inform him that he was going to take a few days leave when he was cut abruptly. "Yongguk told me about it. Go on, love birds." Junhong could literally hear the smirk that came with the sentence and couldn't help but blush to himself.

The young man thanked his boss and stood up from the bed, stretching his limbs. He grabbed his clothes and started to dress up, after all he only got like three hours before the flight.

He was dressed simple; a black skinny jeans, a loose gray hoodie and a beanie, which was a present from Yongguk. He gathered up his things, keys, phone and suitcase before exiting their house through the front door.

18th December — Madrid, Spain

The airport was busy, people had just gotten off the plane and looking for someone they knew who would eventually pick them up. Junhong on the other hand, was lost.

He had tried calling Yongguk several times now, but all he heard was the operator's voice, telling him that the person he was trying to reach was out of service. He even texted the other, but to no avail; the older didn't reply.

It was a different country and he was not that familiar with the surrounding, heck, he didn't even speak spanish! Sure, he and Yongguk had travelled a lot during their free times and of course it was not Junhong's first time in Madrid.

But it was different, travelling with Yongguk. The older knew a little bit spanish and other languages, but not so much. He was still able to understand simple sentences and reply to them.

Right now, Junhong was stuck in a foreign country, not knowing a single word the people around him were saying. He was lost and scared. He was trying to come up with a plan when suddenly his phone buzzed, a familiar tone indicating he received a text from someone.

Junhong sighed in relieve when he saw the name of the sender, immediately opening his text to read what his husband had sent him.

From: Hubby

Take a taxi to Florarte Madrid, it's a flower shop.

The text was simple and Junhong didn't waste time by trying to think about what was waiting for him there, instead he grabbed his suitcase and walked towards the exit glass door of the airport.

After getting on a taxi and telling the driver where he wanted to go in not-so-fluent english, the taxi made a move, speeding along the roads to his desired destination.

The traffic was good, cars were moving freely and Junhong thought it was a nice day despite the cold breeze. Time flew and before Junhong knew it, he was met with the doors of Florarte Madrid after paying the taxi driver.

He stood in front of the shop for a while, taking in the beautiful sight of flowers; every colour, every kind, just name it. Maybe they sell all kinds of flowers here, not that Junhong knew.

It was strating to get dark, it was nearing dusk. Junhong made hiis way inside the shop, hearing the bell dinged indicating a new customer. The young man was dumbfounded when he saw the delighted look on the girl behind the counter face.

The girl made a sign, telling Junhong to wait a minute before she brought out a bouquet of tulips; red and yellow tulips, before giving it to him. Junhong was hesitant at first but reached out to grab the bouquet anyway.

The girl then held out a pastel yellow envelope towards him too, which Junhong took seconds later, presenting the girl in front of him with a kind smile. He balanced the bouquet in his right hand before opening the envelope slowly with his other hand, pulling out the white card out of it.

Te amo.

Red tulips: Declaration of love

Yellow tulips: Hopelessly in love

It was written in cursive letters, so beautiful. He couldn't help but smile to himself, a wide grin forming from all the happiness he was currently feeling thanks to a certain idiot.

Junhong knew the meaning of this, probably the only sentence he knew in spanish. And the way Yongguk mentioned the meaning of the flowers added up to it, making Junhong think that the older was the most thoughtful husband on Earth. Junhong turned to look at the girl again, giving her a grin before silently thanking her in english.

Yongguk had also provided him with a plane ticket to Berlin, Germany and an adress to a local hotel, around the area he was right now. He stopped a taxi and got onto it when his luggage was thrown into the trunk.

The taxi started moving towards the mentioned hotel, leaving Junhong to his own thoughts. He might as well rest because he just realized that his flight to Berlin would fly at seven in the evening the next day.

So, Junhong had fifteen hours to spend in Madrid. He grabbed his phone and gave Yongguk a call, only resulting the line to be directed to the annoying operator once again. He rolled his eyes and started texting the older.

The text was sent but after ten minutes of waiting for a reply, none came. That was when Junhong knew Yongguk had read the text but refused to reply him. Stupid husband.

To: Hubby

I know you're here in Madrid. Show yourself!

19th December — Berlin, Germany

Another busy airport, what was the young man thinking, airports were always busy. Thank God the flight from Madrid to Berlin didn't take too long. About three hours in the flight and he was here. He waited for another sign Yongguk would give him because he won't try to contact the other.

His calls would only be rejected and his texts were ignored. He was getting angry and annoyed at the other but Junhong knew Yongguk had something planned for the both of them, so he was willing to wait.

Like on cue, his phone buzzed with the familiar tone yet again. Another text from the awaited romeo, thank God. Junhong rolled his eyes, unable to contain his anger towards his husband.

From: Hubby

Sorry baby. Go to Flowershop Steglitz and get your next clue.

It was a short message and now Junhong knew Yongguk had been following him but chose to not appear. The man pouted to himself and dragged his suitcase towards the exit door.

Yongguk who was watching his husband from a nearby cafe smiled to himself, adoring his other half. He had promised himself that he would only spend the night with his lover on their anniversary.

For what? He didn't know but Yongguk thought it would be great, all the longing and missing would make Junhong a little more needy that usual. Yongguk shook his head to clear the dirty thoughts away from his mind.

On the other hand, Junhong had already boarded a taxi, telling the driver his desired destination. Junhong was so busy with his thoughts that he blinked in confusion when the taxi came to a stop.

He looked out of the window and spotted the sign to an average-sized shop with flowers inside them. Flowershop Steglitz, yeah this was the place. Junhong paid the driver and watched it drove away, leaving him alone with his suitcase.

Junhong had no choice but to drag his not so small luggage with him into the shop, earning a weird look from the man behind the counter. It was only for a few seconds though because the weird look soon turned to an excited one.

He scrambled out from behind the counter and ran to grab something from the back of his shop. Junhong waited patiently, assuming that the worker was going to grab the bouquet of flowers Yongguk had gotten for him.

The man returned a few minutes later, a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers; a combination of daisies, lilacs and irises. A pastel blue envelope on top of the flowers, thankfully not ruining them.

Junhong grabbed the envelope, opening it while balancing the bouquet in his other arm, this bouquet was slightly bigger than the previous one. The young man managed the bring a white card out of the envelope. He scanned the words written in cursive yet again, grinning to himself like a fool.

Ich liebe dich

Daisy: Innocence

Lilac: First love

Iris: Inspiration

Junhong laughed at the definition of the flowers, if a woman saw this combination of flowers she would probably laugh. But knowing Yongguk, he wanted to express his feelings through a deep meaning, not just the appearance.

That was one of the many reasons why Junhong loved his husband. Of course, Yongguk also gave him a plane ticket to Paris, France and an adress to a nearby hotel.

Seriously, Yongguk was so thoughtful and he planned his routes perfectly. He thanked the man who was standing behind the counter in english, making the smile and reply back in broken english.

The taxi ride to his hotel was tiring because of the traffic but when he took a glance at the bouquet of fresh flowers on his lap, the bright smile came back to his face.

Back at the flower shop, Yongguk held out his hand to the man earlier. The man nodded in understanding and gave younger a piece of polaroid, it was no ordinary photo.

It was the photo that the man had secretly taken when Junhong was admiring the flowers earlier and his husband looked perfect. Yongguk flashed his gummy smile at the middle-aged man before thanking him in german.

He paid the workers of the flower shops to take the pictures of his husband's reaction. He was grateful because the previous one and the one in his hand were beautifully taken, thanks to the workers.

Junhong grabbed his phone to send a text to his husband. It was some time later when Junhong stopped waiting for a reply because he knew he wouldn't get one. Stupid Yongguk. Was it his plan to make Junhong miss him so much? Because it was clearly working.

To: Hubby

Thanks for the flowers! Love you xx

20th December — Paris, France

Junhong seriously couldn't stand the airports most of the time, it was so loud and uncomfortable because there were so many people flooding the grounds, mainly because they just got off the flight.

The young man waited for the text message from his husband as always, knowing that his husband probably boarded on the same flight or took an ealier flight, just to give directions to him.

And thank all the forces on the earth right now because the flight was only two hours, Junhong couldn't thank you enough. Now, he was afraid of the journey back to Korea, it would take more hours of boredom and sleep.

He seriously didn't know what else to do on his previous flight from Seoul to Madrid. All he did was sleep, eat, listen to music and sleep some more. The cycle went on until he finally arrived in Madrid about thirty hours later.

His phone buzzedand he knew Yongguk was the one to send him the text. He grabbed his phone from his jacket pocket, quickly unlocking it and opening the text. What he received from Yongguk made him smile softly.

From: Hubby

Go to Côté Jardin. You look stunning in that outfit btw.

Without wasting much time, Junhong stopped a taxi and a few minutes fo trying to explain his destination to the driver in not so fluent english, he was finally on his way to yet another flower shop. What was up with Yongguk and his sudden attraction to flowers?

Turned out the flower shop was not that far from the airport because Junhong was not even thinking about anything yet, it only took the driver for about ten minutes to reach the flower shop. Junhong dragged his suitcase towards the shop and stared at the flowers inside it.

The flowers here looked a little more beautiful than the ones in Madrid and Berlin. Not that the previous flowers were not beautiful, but something about this place made the flowers looked more beautiful. The signboard of the shop looked cute, it gave Junhong a pleasant feeling while staring at it.

He stepped inside the shop, looking at the counter for any sign of a worker. There was no one and before Junhong doubted the fact the shop was empty or the workers were delivering flowers, he heard footsteps coming towards him.

A very young lady, probably around twenty smiled up at him, thanks to his height. When she recognized who her customer was, she quickly clapped her hands once in joy. She grabbed a bouquet of flowers which was placed on the counter earlier and handed it to Junhong.

A combination of pink carnations and orchids, Junhong nodded; not bad. He then grabbed the pastel yellow envelope from the lady who was holding it. He opened the envelope slowly, anticipating to know the meaning behind those beautiful flowers.

Je t'aime

Pink carnation: Gratitude

Orchid: Delicate beauty

Junhong blushed after reading the meaning of the flowers, making him look a bit like his favourite snack, cherry tomatoes. The lady in front of him was holding her camera down, succeeding in taking the picture of the young man's reaction to his gift seconds ago.

The man finally looked up from the bouquet, flashing the worker a warm and content smile, instantly earning one back. He nodded politely and thanked her in english, which she replied back with a heavy-accented 'you're welcome'.

Junhong played with the plane ticket back to Seoul when he finally got a taxi to stop and boarded it. He was anticipating for his next, probably his last stop. It was nearing their anniversary anyway. To be exact it was on the 22nd of December and Junhong couldn't wait to celebrate with Yongguk.

It was their first ever anniversary and Yongguk had proved that he had planned everything perfectly. Yongguk had told him so many times, about how much he loved Junhong, how he could never fall in love with another person because Junhong was his one and only.

Yongguk tried hard to make him realize his love and to be honest, Junhong really loved these sweet gestures from Yongguk. The older didn't have to do these things, wasting money so Junhong could travel and being told 'i love you's in different languages.

But knowing Yongguk, he probably wouldn't listen to Junhong's rant. When he was set to do something, he would do it. Especially when it involved his beloved husband, of course. Junhong couldn't think of any perfect man other than Yongguk.

Junhong blushed to himself as the taxi sped towards his hotel. He grabbed his phone and started texting Yongguk, this time shoving his phone back into his jacket pocket without even checking for a reply because he knew he wouldn't get any.

To: Hubby

I can't wait to meet you xx

22nd December — Seoul, South Korea

Junhong was frantically searching for a chair so he could sit down for awhile. A few days of travelling around Europe, boarding planes for countless hours did that to someone. Junhong's headache was unbearable and the jetlag was starting to kick in.

He was just glad that he was back to Seoul, he could finally understand what people were talking about. Junhong had his head down, silently praying for his headache to go away. It was the day of his anniversary and he really wanted to celebrate with his husband happily, without headache preferably.

His phone went off, buzzing for attention his attention. Junhong grabbed his phone and unlocking it, realizing that he had received a text from his husband. He opened the text and smiled to himself before standing up.

From: Hubby

Come home, love.

A ride back home in his car was silent but Junhong could literally hear his own heart beating fast. First, he was excited to know what Yongguk had back in their house, was it going to be amazing like always? Second, he couldn't wait to land on his bed and just take a nap.

A few minutes of mindlessly thinking about Yongguk and how much he missed his home, the car came to stop in front of his enormous house. He parked his car in the garage before killing the engine. Junhong hopped off of the car and stretched his long limbs.

Ah, home sweet home. The young man grabbed his suitcase and walked towards the front door, fishing for the keys. Junhong yelled 'I'm home' when the door was opened, he sat down to undo the shoelaces of his black converse.

"Happy Anniversary, Bang Junhong." He was met with the familiar deep voice and a bouquet of beautiful flowers; a combination of roses, multiple colours which were pink, red and white. Junhong had a permanent grin plastered on his face when he saw his husband standing in front of him, holding the bouquet out for him to take.

Instead of taking the flowers, he moved to give Yongguk a powerful hug, burying his face at the crook of Yongguk's neck. The older just chuckled, his free hand caressing his husband's hair lovingly. After about minutes of just hugging and sharing quick pecks on the lips, Junhong took the bouquet of roses. Yongguk gave him the awaited envelope when Junhong gave him a look. This one was pastel purple and Junhong quickly opened it, earning a low chuckle from his husband.

사랑해

Pink rose: Admiration/appreciation

Red rose: Passionate love

White rose: Purity

Junhong was expecting roses as the last flower because Yongguk knew his favourite would always be the white roses. He took a quick sniff at the flowers after reading the white card and smiled softly towards his husband.

He looked behind Yongguk and saw the flowers that Yongguk had given him from the three cities in Europe. Junhong was about to question it but Yonggu was fast to reply without even hearing the younger's word.

"I told the hotel workers to get it shipped back to us. We have to take care of all of them, alright?" Junhong smiled brightly at that, moving forward to give Yongguk another tight hug. "Baby, I think you didn't look through your present yet."

Junhong gave him a questioning look and checked the purple envelope again, indeed there was another piece of paper folded neatly inside it. "What is this?" Junhong asked out of curiosity, his hands carefully and slowly unfolding the letter before he read it.

The bouquet of roses dropped on the floor, forgotten. Both of them seemed to not care about it now when Junhong burst into tears, hands tightly wrapped around his husband's neck. "I love you so much! Thank you so much!" Junhong spoke between his sobs, kissing Yongguk's neck a few times, trying to express his gratitude to what Yongguk have done.

"I knew you wanted a child, baby. So I decided we should adopt one." Junhong was still crying happily, tears streaming down his cheeks freely. The both of them had landed on the couch, the younger on top of Yongguk while Yongguk's arms securing around his waist.

"How do you know?" Junhong forced those words out, he had stopped crying after awhile, but you could still hear his small hiccups. "I always knew, baby. When we would take a stroll at the park. The longing look you would always potray." Yongguk leaned in to place a firm kiss on his husband's lips, which Junhong willingly kissed back.

The kiss was broken minutes later, Junhong leaned forwards, their forehead collided. The younger had his hands on Yongguk's cheeks, caressing them lovingly. "I can't believe it, sweetheart. Our own son, our Youngsoo." Junhong said, his grin never leaving his face.

"Youngsoo?" Yongguk had his eyebrows raised, making the younger laugh. "I've been looking for babies' names since forever. Bang Youngsoo, it's perfect!" Junhong flailed his arms, still looking excited over the fact of him finally having his own child.

"It is, baby." And with that, they shared another sweet kiss.

After all this waiting, I finally update it! Thank you so much for those who subscribed to this oneshot and waited for it to happen. To be honest, I stopped writing this oneshot a few times thinking 'this is not going to work' or 'I think I'm giving up'. But after seeing the subscribers for this story, I think giving up is a stupid thing to do. I want to thank those who commented, voted, subscribed or even just read this story. Your feedback gives me my confidence to write again, everytime I feel like giving up.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

This is by far the longest oneshot I've ever written and my favourite work. I worked hard on this I guess, doing countless researches about the flower shops and the meaning behind those flowers. I really hope you guys like it :) And I'm sorry if the facts I'm putting in this oneshot are not true. Tell me and I'll change them.

Love,
Amy
