I always thought I was alone. I am an orphan, an outcast in school. I am looked down upon in both school and the public. The village women always stared at me as I walked past and whispered among themselves, I did not need to hear their conversation to know they were talking about me, obviously not good things. I knew why I was born to be hated; I was a freak of nature. Ever since I was born, I could manipulate the shadows, darkness was my home. Of course people would look down on me! I had powers yet did not use them for my own defense, good swordsman skills yet I never defended themselves. I let people bully me, gossip about me, hit me, leave me to take their blame. Nobody stood up for me, they just stared and whispered among themselves. The only thing that comforted me was my necklace. It had a hexagon-shaped pendant, the mysterious letters EXO forming it. Behind it were twelve symbols, symbolizing twelve powers. I could open the pendant like a locket and inside was a symbol, my symbol indicating the power darkness. At the corner, the number 13 was engraved. The number 13, thirteen symbols, thirteen powers, It was the only memory I had of my parents. I briefly remember the blurred face of my mother and father telling me that this necklace was important, that I had it ever since I was born.
