Foreword
“Death walks faster than the wind and never returns what he has taken.”
- Hans Christian Andersen, The Story of a Mother
The first time I laid eyes on Death, I didn’t expect to feel so calm.
Frankly, I wasn’t sure what I was expecting. A skeletal figure shrouded in a black cloak, scythe in hand, perhaps, like how people depicted the Grim Reaper in stories and paintings.
Actually, everyone was right about the black cloak and the scythe. However, the figure standing before me was not nearly so frightening, although the coldness in his eyes gave me chills.
Death was a young man, someone who looked to be in his late teens, although there was something about the way he carried himself that belied his true nature, hinting at his agelessness. He had dark hair that peeked out from beneath his hood, a nose that may have been considered slightly too big for his face but seemed to suit the rest of his features, and heart-shaped lips.
All in all, he looked perfectly ordinary, like someone you would pass by in the streets without sparing a second glance. He could even be considered attractive, a thought that sobered me as soon as it flashed through my mind.
“It’s time to go.” Raising his scythe almost mechanically, he said the words without thought, like he had recited them countless times before. The thought occurred to me that he most likely had.
The funny thing about being dead was that I no longer felt fear. What was left for me to lose, after all? I didn’t flinch when Death swung his scythe towards me, watching the curved blade arc gracefully towards my neck.
I closed my eyes.
...yeah, so, this story has been sitting in my drafts for a while now. Reaper!Jungkook has definitely been done before, but the story is my own~
