I was trick-or-treating with my friend named Kirsten, and her two friends (who were a couple). Instead of trick-or-treating where I lived, we trick-or-treated where her friends lived - which wasn't very far from when I lived thankfully. I didn't have a costume, because I couldn't afford one, so I half-assed it with a bloody mask and some baggy boy clothes and a toy axe. We trick-or-treated at many houses, some houses didn't even have any decorations but still offered candy. But soon enough, we found ourselves walking down an empty - and rather eerie road outlined in trees.

"Holy this place is creepy." Kirsten muttered, her shoulders shrinking upwards a little as the wind blew, making me visibly shudder as the cold went straight through me. It was oddly cold for a Halloween night.

"It's just a road outlined by trees, Kirsten!" Joe mocked, playfulness in his voice, but smiled widely none the less. "Don't be such a ."

Kirsten turned and looked at her friend with a look of disbelief. "Shut the up, you jerk! It's near midnight and we're walking down some creepy road in the darkness, and you're lucky there's a couple streets lights or else we'd be walking in the dark."

"She has a point." Joe's girlfriend, Kate, responded as she walked beside Joe - hand in hand. "It is...rather silent in this area." All 3 of us fell silent as our eyes scanned our surroundings before we huddled closer to one another.

"Let's just--yeah, let's just get home, okay?" I muttered, gritting my teeth a little. "It's cold and we got a ton of candy--LOOK AT MY PILLOW CASE IS LIKE A ING /SUIT/CASE!" I haul up my pillowcase, having to cradle it in both arms for it seemed to weigh a ton.

Kirsten laughed. "Holy Christ, Willow, you got the most candy out of all of us!" She chuckled, comparing her pillowcase to mine before looking at Joe's and Kate's. Joe, Kirsten, and I were so busy chattering about my pillowcase's size and the amount of candy that I got that we at first didn't notice Kate was calling for us. We all looked over at her, and followed at the direction she was pointing at.

"Look, guys." She blinked rapidly then turned her head to look at us. "...A graveyard."

There was a moment of silence. "HELL YEAH!" Joe shouted, let go of Kate's hand and ran full speed towards the graveyard. "Guys! Guys, guys, let's do this!"

"Do what?" I groan as we reluctantly follow him. Joe turned around and slung his bookbag off of his back, which he somehow managed to stuff the pillowcase of candy into it, before pulling out a box. My eyes grew wide and I heard Kirsten gasp. "Just in case, for s and giggle's, I brought and Ouiji board!"

"You've gotta be kidding me--" I whisper in disbelief.

"This is gonna be fun. Yeah, let's do it!" Kate cheered and ran towards her boyfriend. Kirsten and I, however, exchange wary looks but reluctantly follow them into the graveyard. We found a spot and sat down underneath a tree, huddled up in a circle around the board.

I sighed softly. "Why are we doing this again?"

"Because it's fun, besides, nothing's gonna happen anyways. It never does." Kate responded.

I perked an eyebrow and looked up at her. "Then how does that make this fun?"
