‘What in the world is this?’ Hyemi thought as she scoured through her grandmother’s old belongings. It was a tiny notebook, a little bigger than the size of Hyemi’s hand. The cover of the book was pastel pink with a big ‘Kang Okcha’ written on it, blemishing the book’s design. ‘Kang Okcha…?’ That was her grandmother’s name. Hyemi blew the dust away. ‘Ugh…’

She flipped open the book and what caught her interest was a drawing of a handsome young man that looked like he was in his teens. ‘Wow, grandma’s got better game than I do.’ Curiosity piped inside her as she read what was written below the sketch.

‘Heol.. did he die or something?’ Shrugging it off, Hyemi went back down from the attic. “Mom? When are we going back?” She shouted as she climbed down the ladder. “Right now, sweetie! We’ve just finished preparations for your grandma’s birthday.”

“Okay, mom. Give me a minute.”

Hyemi went back up the attic to get the pink colored book. “Invading privacy by reading diaries isn’t cool, but I’m dying to know what your love story was like, grandma.” Smiling at the rectangular object, she put it in her messenger bag. “Mom, I’m ready!” She climbed back to the master bedroom and ran downstairs to her parents.

Watching from the shadows, he beamed slightly at the girl in her teens. “She’s a carbon copy of you, Okcha.”
