This is an updated version of the first Last Song - song fic that I wrote back in September of 2013. After reading the first one, I noticed how many things were wrong in the story. So, I decided to try something new and add names, but cut out the Japanese lyrics and keep the English lyrics in and add more description of flashbacks and anything else happening in the story that can catch the eye of the reader. I'll put the Japanese lyrics at the end of the story along with the song at the end so you can hear it. I am the type of writer that loves to use visual and descriptions. I want the reader to "see" and "feel" what is going on in the story. If you get those emotions from the story, it makes me happy, if not, then oh well. So, on to the song fic story:

               A young man walks the streets at night with his jacket collar pulled up trying to keep the bitter cold from entering his body. People walk past him and don't even acknowledge that he's there. He stops and looks up at the dark sky that is covered up by clouds. The young man’s name is Junhyung. Little snowflakes fall silently and softly like a feather. He sighs and breathes out and closes his eyes. He feels something fall down his cheek and as he looks away from the clouds he feels it again. He touches it only to see its tears not the snowflakes. He tries hard not to cry. Even though his heart is still breaking he can't let go. He wishes that things changed but that's all they are...wishes. They will never change. He will still be alone. He pulls something out of his coat pocket and it is a picture of a beautiful young woman with red hair and brown eyes. Her name is Naeun. Her smile makes him smile, but a tear finds its way down his cheek again. He sighs as his breath causes a light puff of mist in the air and softly says, "I still love you."

 

I continued wandering aimlessly, all alone

In the ephemeral nature of the changing seasons

Tears overflowed without any reason

"Even now I love you..."

 

               Junhyung looks up at the sky again and the flakes continue to float softly and silently down. A few of them resting ever so softly on her picture and they dry up creating little puddles on the picture. He wipes them off and puts the picture back in his coat pocket. He continues to walk down the street not really looking for a destination. Just trying to work things through his head. He remembers many days and nights where he would cuddle up with Naeun near the fire or go for walks and they would hold hands. Naeun would rest her head on his shoulder and he would smile knowing that they both love each other. When they would be out at night he would point at the stars, and when they saw a shooting star, they would wish. Junhyung always wished to continue on holding her. Even now at this very moment, he wished he could hold her once more.

 

The continually falling sadness

Changes into pure white snow

Through it all, I raised my head to the sky

Before this body disappears, now,

If my wish reaches you

Please hold me tight just once more.

 

               They had a pact that they would be faithful to each other forever. That stayed true for 3 years. Then it happened. About 3 months ago, Junhyung asked Naeun to marry him. He presented her with a beautiful ring. Naeun’s face lit up and she jumped up saying, "Yes!" He smiled and put the ring on her finger and kissed her hand gently. Naeun smiled and tears were in her eyes because she was so happy. She has never felt this way about anyone and she just loved him with all her heart. Junhyung took her hands and looked into her eyes and said, "Let us promise to stay together forever." She nodded and they both embraced each other and passionately kissed. They were planning their wedding even though they haven't set a date yet.

               Then just a few days ago they had an argument. Naeun found out he was cheating on her and Junhyung found out the same about her. He tried to make up with her but in the end he cheated too many times and she had enough. Even though Naeun was hurt that he continued to see her best friend, Chorong, she still loved him, but in the end Naeun gave back his ring, and he realized that the promise of being faithful and loving to each other will never come true. Naeun gave him a kiss on the cheek, and walked away from him. He still remembers everything and it makes his heart ache.

 

We didn't understand each other and hurt each other over and over again

Even at those times you were always kind

I cut myself on the suddenly surrendered ring

As our promises to each other were not granted

"Even now I remember..."

 

               As Junhyung continues to walk down the street he tries to remember all the happy memories that they shared. He remembers the sad times and the hard times as well. Some of those memories will stay with him forever and he hopes that he will never forget them. He knows that when they broke up they can never meet each other again. They both have to move on with their lives. Junhyung found out from friends that she has got a new man by the name of Aron, but the memories of what they shared has kept him from finding the right woman. Junhyung remembers that even though they aren't together, he remembers many times that he has been down and she was always there to pick him up, and try to get him back on his feet. And before they separated he told her to never change. Naeun has a good heart and a warm personality and that is what people love about her. She smiled at him and said the same thing to him. As she turned to walk away he caught sight of the one thing that has broken his heart, her tears. He saw how much he hurt her and now the one person that he loved is walking away.

               Junhyung stops and looks up. There to the right of him is the one place that they loved spending time with each other. It was the Seoul Park. He started to walk towards it and remembers how much they enjoyed coming here and talking and walking in the daytime and at night when the stars were shining bright, they would sit on the grass and gaze up at the bright stars. Flashbacks show in his eyes of the fun times they enjoyed at the park. He would chase her around the park, and when he caught her he would tackle her and they would lay on the ground laughing. The park is deserted due to the snow and it looks different now that he is not with her. It looks more lonely and desolate. He stares at the snow on the ground and hopes that even though they are apart that she will always remember the good times they shared.

 

The fading memories

Are too brilliant as always

I wanted to be closer by

We can't meet again but

You were always close to hold me up

Just you, don't change yourself.

 

I can't erase those last tears you showed me.

 

Even if I disappear along with this white snow

I want to always bloom in your heart.

 

               Junhyung turns and walks away from the park and continues on his journey to nowhere. He smiles when one of the most loving memories come to mind. He remembers when Naeun would cuddle up with him under a blanket and they would hold each other close, and enjoy the warmth of their bodies even around the winter months. They enjoyed the warmth and they would stay like that for hours just enjoying each other’s company. Laughing, talking and even sitting by the fire at his house. Another flashback came to mind of them sitting on the floor with their backs to the couch, and the warm fire burning while the winter weather was blowing outside. The glow from the fire made Naeun look beautiful and angelic. Junhyung leaned in and softly touched her lips with his.

               Junhyung has seen her many times walking arm and arm with Aron. Aron was a handsome young man. Junhyung found out that Aron is a dancer. Naeun has always liked to date men who are good looking, and can dance. Naeun fell in love with Aron not only because of his looks but because of his personality. Junhyung could see how much fun Naeun has when she’s with Aron. Junhyung remembers the softness of her voice and how beautiful it sounded whenever she would talk to him. Junhyung would melt when he would hear her voice which was so innocent and soft. He smiles again not realizing he is as he remembers the good memories he had with her.

               Junhyung decides to walk back home and as he continues his journey he stops in front of a building. He looks up and sees a sign “Min Lee’s Dance Studio”. He hears music coming from inside and he looks through the window. Junhyungs’ face lit up when he saw someone that he never thought he would see. It was Naeun. She always loved to dance and they would come to this studio to dance often. But, this time, she is with Aron. He watches as the Aron twirls her and holds her just like he would. Junhyung sees that Aron is an expert on dancing. Junhyung continues to watch as both Aron and Naeun get close and they kiss, as Junhyungs’ heart breaks and a tear moves down his face. Just then the music stops and Aron walks away to the other end of the room. Naeun stands there and just for a moment their eyes meet. Junhyung looks at her and Naeun looks at him and she gives him a warm smile. Junhyung sighs and slowly moves away from the window and turns to look up to the sky once more and sees the snow getting a little heavier. The change in the way the snow looks is how his heart feels at that very moment. Junhyung closes his eyes and hears the music start up again. He gives a little wish that he knows will never come true again.

               Junhyung starts to walk away leaving both Naeun and Aron to enjoy their life together. He hopes that he'll find someone just like Naeun, but it will take longer as seeing his love for her is still strong. As he continues his journey he looks at the snow and sees a vision of them both dancing and holding each other. Just as he disappears in the falling snow and the darkened streets a voice whispers on the wind of a wish that will never come true, "Please hold me tight once more....."
