Wendy Son, the cute little nerd, believes that she is sick. And she blames Irene Bae for it.

Foreword

Experiment Journal Entry #1

I, Wendy Son Seungwan, believe that I am experiencing a new disease never known in the field of science and medicine. Symptoms include sweating of hands, abnormal breathing, irregular heart rate, delayed processing of information, anxiety, momentary speech disability, and recurring lack of control over basic motor skills. I presume that these symptoms have started three weeks ago, while I was doing research at the school's library.

I was searching for a book on robotics when I saw a girl sleeping between one of the bookshelves. I approached her to wake her up and shook her gently by the arm. She groaned tiredly and raised her head. I have failed to realize how close I was actually leaning towards her. It was then did I realize that I had woken up Irene Bae, the school's head cheerleader and one of the more "popular" girls in school. I have never been within this close proximity with anyone before. That's when the first symptom occurred. I suddenly felt my heart rate increasing rapidly. I didn't even have enough time to fully comprehend what was happening; this is the second symptom which is the delayed processing of information. The moment she stood up so suddenly, unconsciously clutching onto my arm to steady herself, another symptom took place which was the sweating of my hands. And the last symptom I have experienced that day is when she muttered a soft "Thank you," and my embarrassing response was "Uh...y-you're...u-um...wel...welc-c...w-welcome..." I could NOT believe that I had lost my ability to speak understandable words during that moment!

More symptoms have followed after my quick encounter with the cheerleader. I have also started noticing these symptoms occur more frequently whenever I am near the presence of Irene Bae. I believe that it is most reasonable to suspect that she is the source of my sickness. Whatever this sickness is, it is both fascinating and terrifying at the same time. Fascinating, because it is something completely new to me; and terrifying, because it makes me feel like a defective human who could not function properly.

Hence, I have decided to start this experiment in order to understand my disorder better. This experiment journal will contain written accounts regarding the status and progress my sickness. I will include experimental attempts, observations, results, and possible solutions on finding a cure. But in order to do this, I will have to interact with Irene Bae to get answers. This may or may not worsen my condition, but I am doing this all in the good name of science!

Hopefully, I will be able to arrive at a conclusion and produce a cure for this strange new disease.

A/N: Hi guys! I'm just gonna leave this little intro here. I'm not sure when I'll be able to finish writing this oneshot. I just came to me a while ago while I was stacking books and doing inventory as a student assistant at our school library while listening to Dumb Dumb for entertainment. I particularly like these lines:

남동생 로봇처럼
하나부터 열까지 다 어색하지
어떡하지 고장 났나 봐
숨을 쉬는 방법도 다 까먹었어 나

(Like my little brother's robot, everything is so awkward
What do I do? I think I'm broken, I even forgot how to breathe)

I just really liked it :) You know, to think of yourself as "broken". Not in the my-heart-is-broken way, but to actually think that you're defective because you've failed to operate functionally. Okay hahahaha yeah so that's just my thoughts. I'll update as soon as I can. School is taking a toll on me lately so please bear with me ^^

P.S.
No, the oneshot wouldn't be entirely in the form of journal entries so don't worry about it sounding academic or like a research paper or unnecessary words and sentences. There will be scenes and dialogue and such. The journal entries just pop out from time to time.
