Not Alone

A 17-year-old Ricky walked to school with his best friend Changjo. Well, his only friend since no one else wanted anything to do with the half-breed.

Neither of the boys cared about it, though. All they needed was each other.

The day went by like usual, nothing interesting ever happened in their school. Before they managed to get out of the doors, they were stopped by a bunch of full-blood vampires along with a few humans.

Ricky froze as soon as he saw them surrounding him, not caring about Changjo.

”Go, Changjo! I can take care of myself.” The said one looked at the slightly older of the two. When he saw the unsaid 'You can take care of me afterwards', he nodded, though hesitantly, and carefully backed off until he could leave.

After he was sure his best friend was safe, Ricky relaxed. He could take anything the others had in mind. Take he did.

Ricky couldn't stand up from where he was. Moving a single muscle hurt. He hoped Changjo came back quickly, some people still had school, after all. He didn't want anyone else to see him in the state he was in.

Soon enough he heard light footsteps coming his way, he could tell it was his friend by the familiarity of them.

Changjo couldn't help but gasp when he saw his friend. He had never seen him in this bad condition.

”Hey...” Ricky slowly opened his eyes and Changjo let out another gasp in surprise. Ricky's eyes were red as blood, meaning he was hungry... As in I'll-die-if-I-don't-get-blood-soon hungry. Changjo knelt on the floor right next to Ricky's head and carefully lifted it into his lap.

Ricky moved his gaze to Changjo's offered wrist, then to his eyes. They stared at each other for a while before Ricky could muster enough strength to speak.

”You know we're still in the school corridor, right? There are cameras all around the place and the lessons are to end any minute now... I can't drink your blood here, it's illegal and if someone sees us, we could both end up dead. You know that, right?” It took a lot of energy to speak and Ricky could no longer keep his eyes open, he was feeling so heavy, so sleepy.

”Just enough so that you can walk out of here. Please, you know you need it.” Ricky could hear the pleading in his friend's voice. Then he could feel how Changjo pressed his wrist to his lips.

Only the scent of blood, even through skin, made him slightly open his mouth so he could bite into it. His fangs had already come out of their normal place in his gums, ready to sink into the offered wrist.

Soon he couldn't resist anymore and he quickly sank them into the flesh. Blood started pooling into his mouth as the blood vessel broke and he couldn't help but groan slightly in pleasure.

It wasn't his first time drinking from Changjo, but it still felt like it was. He would never get tired of the taste. His grip around the wrist tightened and he pulled it even closer. Unfortunately Changjo had to stop him after only seconds of drinking.

”Ricky, stop. We have to go before people start coming out. And before it starts to look suspicious to those watching the camera feed.”

Ricky barely listened, he was so focused on the energetic feeling he got from the blood. He only let go when he could feel that the wrist was being pulled out of his grasp, eventhough his fangs were still in it. With a growl he opened his eyes only to meet the kind brown of his friend's with his fiery scarlet.

He fought his instincts to just ignore the words spoken and keep drinking and slowly his eyes turned to their normal brown colour. He sighed before slowly rising to a sitting position.

”We really need to go. I can't close the wound here and your blood is making me crazy.” Changjo nodded and stood up. Ricky followed suit with his help and they slowly started walking home, with Ricky leaning onto the taller boy for support.

To Ricky the 15-minute journey to his home seemed to take forever. No matter how good and energetic he had felt at the school, that feeling was long gone. He was exhausted by the walk and all he wanted to do was lie down and never move again.

Changjo was the only reason they even made it home. With his support he had managed to go most of the time by himself, though the rest of the walk he more like carried Ricky.

They both sighed in relief when they arrived and found out that Ricky's parents weren't home yet. Though they most likely knew about them and their doings, it was better not to confirm anything in case they were caught.

Changjo carried Ricky to his room and gently laid him on the bed. Then he took both of their shoes off before laying next to him.

”You need more blood, Ricky. You're too weak.” Ricky, even in his weakened state, had to protest when he heard the other.

”I already took too much yesterday. I can't take more, you're going to suffer the consequences. There's a reason we are not supposed to drink from those under 20.” Ricky mumbled weakly into the crook of his friend's neck.

”I know when to stop you. I'm more worried about you. You'll suffer without blood.”

”But... I can drink the substitute. We have lots of it as we barely drink it.”

”No! You know just as well as I do that it's not going to be enough. You'll drink my blood and that's final!” Ricky sighed in defeat. He knew he couldn't win this one, especially when he didn't want to drink the dilute substitute in the first place.

Changjo sat up and carefully pulled Ricky so he was partly laying on top of him, his back to his chest. Then he once again offered his already injured wrist so Ricky could re-open the holes that had already been clotted shut.

To Changjo, there was no better feeling than the one he felt when Ricky drank his blood. The bite of course hurt at first but soon enough the pain went away when the sensation started.

Even better was the sight of Ricky. No matter how scary his eyes were when drinking blood, with eyes closed like this he looked like a kitten. Eventhough Changjo scolded himself of the thought every time it came, he couldn't deny it: Ricky looked cute.

As he had said to Ricky, Changjo stopped him when he started to feel tired and slightly nauseous due to blood lost. It took some persuating before Ricky stopped fully but when he did, he at the wound he inglicted until it stopped bleeding. Then he turned to Changjo with a cute little smile playing on his lips, looking like a pleased kitten.

”I'm going to get you something to eat. You have to make up for the blood you lose, should help with the nausea too.” He said while in the process of getting up from the bed. He was stopped by Changjo's hand before he could leave.

”Don't go. Stay with me for a while, yeah? I feel tired, I just want to sleep for a while.” Ricky had no other option but to obey his slightly younger friend as he had a great amount of strength even when tired.

”Okay, we'll take a short nap, then we can go and eat.”
