CHAPTER 5:

A DAY AT THE HOSPITAL

            It was almost 4 AM when Ryeowook came rushing down at the hospital halls right after the receptionist told him which room to go. The call from KangIn at 2 in the morning wasn’t really a great thing to start a day. Kyuhyun was shot from the encounter of two suspects at the case we were handling, KangIn’s voice still replayed in Ryeowook’s mind as he searched for his destination.

            When Ryeowook received the call, from his sleepy state he immediately got up and got ready to hit the road. It should be a norm to him of Kyuhyun getting hurt, or any of his friends getting hurt since they sure are in a dangerous job after all. But then again, they are talking about Kyuhyun here, his closest friend ever in his life.

            He didn’t bother to knock when he finally found the room where Kyuhyun was and barged in.

            “Oh . . . hey.” The one who was on the bed weakly greeted the panting man.

            Ryeowook just looked at him and clenched his fist. “Idiot. . .”

            “I missed you too.” Kyuhyun joked with a faint chuckle.

            “You got KangIn hyung calling me early in the morning with the news of you getting hurt! I was worried and sick!” The older spoke as he went to reach the bed Kyuhyun was on.

            “Sorry.” Kyuhyun saw the concern in the other’s eyes and he felt really wretched for worrying his hyung like that. “You should’ve called me on my cell. You have to go to work later early too, you needed sleep.”

            “Like I can sleep with the thought of you in a hospital.” Ryeowook calmed down a bit and sat down beside the other. “How are you feeling?”

            “Like the usual. . . I’m super.” With that response, Ryeowook just weakly laughed. Hurt or not, Kyuhyun still manages to smile and joke around to make him not worry.

            A long silence came after while Ryeowook lazily played with Kyuhyun’s hair, swirling the strands around his fingers. The younger did nothing but to appreciate the other’s presence. He was okay even without any conversations as long as he is in the same room as him, as long as he can see that petite figure in his line of sight. Ryeowook might feel the same, no, he does feel the same. Both of them do understand that what they think and feel towards each other aren’t the same as other friendships out there. But they do not bother to speak about it. They were just being them after all. Spending their childhood together, being with each other is almost like their second nature. It is their norm. So when their other friends tell them they were being too close or their relationship is doubtful to be just a normal
