The Parks are wealthy, but they are not nobility. Nor do they wish to be the nobility, for it will only lessen their power within the nation. The property they own would become open to the public. They own large amounts of land within the fire nation which are rich with mineral deposits and mines that provide jobs for the working class. the Parks have strong political ties to the nobility and are notorious for being exploitative and lucrative dealers. With war in proximity, the Park's are becoming more and more manipulative, to protect their interests and their interests lie with the Earth Kingdom because it will open themselves up to a larger market. The problem is, the Fire Nation will not allow them to align with the Earth Kingdom.
