Sometimes I can't help but compare myself to the world around me, my family, my friends, etc. I will never understand how the world works. Being born and raised in the US, I was always taken care of. 4 bedroom house in the suburbs, I went to public school from my first years until the end of my secondary education, similar to most kids that were my age at the time. My parents were always there for me, so I never had to really learn how to do anything by myself. But then the realization of college kicked in. Going to college, I quickly had to realize that this time, I'm alone. During the academic school year, I had to be my own parent. But the worst part of it? My mind is still a kid at heart. Somehow, I had to go to school, and learn how to act more like an adult, but I still wanted to have fun. I mean come on, being 18 and having to know what you want to do until retirement? That's crazy. Honestly, my child-like 18 year old brain would much rather just spend the night on dramafever with some bubble tea than think about my major plan in life.

Somehow, everyone I know that's finished college seems pretty successful and happy with where they are in life, so I can't help but wonder. Am I doing something wrong? Or did everyone I know have this problem at one point?

Hey what's up everyone! My name is Ryan, but I go by Yani (pronounced: Yah-knee). I'm an 18 year old university student in the US, currently in the transition between a chemistry major to a teaching in English major. Yeah I know, big difference. Long story short, I love chemistry, but I struggle with it. My parents know that it's been a dream job of mine to teach English as a second language in a non-English speaking country. After a long debate with my mom on how this is a real career path that people follow through with, she finally agreed and let me switch to a major more appropriate with my career goals. Some hobbies I have are fanboying over kpop, singing, and dancing! I'm actually a competitive hip/hop dancer and have been dancing for about 4 years now~.
