About Me

The Clumsy Sun
As the streets look wavy
in the heat of the asphalt,
everyone moves in slow motion
and your bicycle, leisurely, gets closer.
The flowers of your dress get whirled up by the wind
making my heart tighten.
I wonder if we’re going to start something.

I love you, but
we’ve known each other for too long.

“Let’s go to the sea” you suggest.
But what should we do, at the sea, as friends?
Like always, I avoid meeting your eyes,
and words start coming out on their own,
going on about the sneakers I want.
When a bus passed right by you,
I casually stepped in to protect you.

I’m a clumsy sun.
I’m doing nothing but shine by your side
unable to put my feelings into words.

A reticent sun.
The season of love feels just scorchingly hot,
in such a frustrating way.

I love you, but…
I love you too much. (Yeah, I can’t look you straight in the eyes)
If I get closer than this… (The blue sky lasts forever - yeah - endlessly)

While eating shaved ice, sitting beside a breakwater,
we talk about things like our stinging teeth and our hurting temples.
As I gaze at the waves, gently touched by the salty breeze,
I realize this might be okay too,
because I’m getting to be the closest to you.
You pout your lips, seeing right through my timid self.

I’m a clumsy sun.
Ever since I met you,
I keep doing nothing but burn, without ever moving.

A coward sun.
I cannot get closer, because I feel
like even you, so dear to me, might disappear.

And yet I love you…
I love you, but… (This sense of distance - yeah - makes me feel so constrained)
And yet I love you…
I love you (This relationship - yeah - It’s youth, it’s a summer love)

I’m a clumsy sun.
I’m doing nothing but shine by your side
unable to put my feelings into words.

A reticent sun.
The season of love feels just scorchingly hot,
in such a frustrating way.

I love you, but…
I love you too much (Yeah, I can’t look you straight in the eyes)
