Be True

Be true to your work, your word, and your friend (Henry David Thoreau). Be true to yourself, help others, make each day your masterpiece, make friendship a fine art, drink deeply from good books especially the Bible, build a shelter against a rainy day, give thanks for your blessings and pray for guidance every day (John Wooden).

I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong (Abraham Lincoln). I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence (Frederick Douglass).

Be Positive

When you wake up every day, you have two choices. You can either be positive or negative; an optimist or a pessimist. I choose to be an optimist. It's all a matter of perspective (Harvey Mackay). In order to carry a positive action we must develop here a positive vision (Dalai Lama).

Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose (Lyndon B. Johnson). Work hard for what you want because it won't come to you without a fight. You have to be strong and courageous and know that you can do anything you put your mind to. If somebody puts you down or criticizes you, just keep on believing in yourself and turn it into something positive (Leah LaBelle). Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow (Helen Keller).

Positive anything is better than negative nothing (Elbert Hubbard). Find a place inside where there's joy, and the joy will burn out the pain (Joseph Campbell). Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results (Willie Nelson). No matter what you're going through, there's a light at the end of the tunnel and it may seem hard to get to it but you can do it and just keep working towards it and you'll find the positive side of things (Demi Lovato).

Live life to the fullest, and focus on the positive (Matt Cameron). Your attitude is like a box of crayons that colour your world. Constantly colour your picture gray, and your picture will always be bleak. Try adding some bright colours to the picture by including humour, and your picture begins to lighten up (Allen Klein).

Correction does much, but encouragement does more (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe). To succeed, you need to find something to hold on to, something to motivate you, something to inspire you (Tony Dorsett). I believe if you keep your faith, you keep your trust, you keep the right attitude, if you're grateful, you'll see God open up new doors (Joel Osteen).

Read and Write

Writing means sharing. It's part of the human condition to want to share things --- thoughts, ideas, opinions (Paulo Coelho). Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go (E. L. Doctorow). Learn as much by writing as by reading (Lord Anton). And what, you ask, does writing teach us? First and foremost, it reminds us that we are alive and that it is a gift and a privilege, not a right. The answer to all writing, to any career for that matter, is love (Ray Bradbury). Love is the only energy I've ever used as a writer. I've never written out of anger, although anger has informed love (Athol Fugard).

Good writing is rewriting (Truman Capote). It supposed to evoke sensation in the reader --- not the fact that it is raining, but the feeling of being rained upon (E. L. Doctorow). Sit down to write what you have thought, and not to think about what you shall write (William Cobbett). If I waited for perfection... I would never write a word (Margaret Atwood). Serious writers write, inspired or not. Over time they discover that routine is a better friend than inspiration (Ralph Keyes).

Almost all good writing begins with terrible first efforts. You need to start somewhere (Anne Lamott). Dance above the surface of the world. Let your thoughts lift you into creativity that is not hampered by opinion (Red Haircrow). That is, you either write something worth reading or do something worth writing (Benjamin Franklin).

A professional writer is an amateur who didn't quit (Richard Bach). Reading and writing, like everything else, improve with practice (Margaret Atwood). Whether you're keeping a journal or writing as a meditation, it's the same thing. What's important is you're having a relationship with your mind (Natalie Goldberg). Until you know who you are you can't write (Salman Rushdie). If a writer knows enough about what he is writing about, he may omit things that he knows (Ernest Hemingway). The most important thing is to read as much as you can, like I did. It will give you an understanding of what makes good writing and it will enlarge your vocabulary (J. K. Rowling).

Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart (William Wordsworth). If the book is true, it will find an audience that is meant to read it (Wally Lamb).

I can't write to please everyone, but someone, somewhere will be touched if I put my heart into it (Sara Winters).

About Me

My name is Evelyn. This space is where I share my passion and my every day life musings. I am a countryside girl who loves all things creative and I hope whatever I share here, be it writing or artsy stuffs would be useful---if not to everyone, perhaps at least to those who might need the resources that I've made.

Writing Interest

When writing fanfiction, I usually don't restrict myself to only one or two fandoms. I am open to any fandom. I don't have any specific bias either because looking at the celebrities as a person, everyone is just so special in their own way. As for cartoon/comics/manga/manhwa, I always choose the one that has either comedic, decent or simple plotline---e.g. Detective Conan, Dr. Slump, Chibi Maruko, Crayon Shin Chan, etc. (Childish? That's me :D)

I write simple stories focusing on the genres Family, Friendship, Romance, Romantic Comedy and School Life. I am a beginner writer so for a start, I only focus on writing what I know.

Media Platform

Other than AFF, I also post my stories and arts at various social media platforms. Deviantart | Fanfiction.net | Instagram | Tumblr | Twitter | Wattpad | Wordpress
