bckground. jimin grew up in a small, very old town of korea. the town is known for their history and the museum of ceramics that they have. jimin didn't mind how small the town was growing up, but she knew that she wasn't meant to stay and become a farmer or something similar.

she is the oldest of three children and the only girl of her siblings. her family has had a home in gurim for decades and expected her to stay within the town as well. they has hoped she would become a doctor or work for the museum, but she never had any interest. her interests always laid within music and dancing. for as long as she could remember, she took part in local festivals as a dancer or singer, singing folk music as best as she could.

she often helped out on her family's farm growing up, earning small change and studying hard as her family desired. it wasn't until she read about an autidtion taking place in a nearby town that her life changed. she was only 14 when she climbed onto a train, paid with the money she had saved from chores, and rode to her audition. she signed with sm a week later and moved to seoul to become a trainee.
