The last name Yi was the last name used by the royal family of Korea. This prestigous family had branches that are not in line for the throne and that's where the twins were born into.

Near the end of the Joseon era, the twins were born. Their birth was both special and ominous. Having twins was rare as the life expectancy is quite low and they survived but it claimed their mother's who bled to death. Their father was the Byeongjo or minister of military affairs at the time. The twins lived in comfort but also lacked love and attention. Their father only notices them when he needs them for something. Their father still blamed them for his wife's death but still give them beautiful things to show everyone their wealth and prestige. They have an older brother who treats them better but is always away to train in the military. 

Yeoshin was taught how to become a homemaker and to sew so she can be a suitable wife for possible marriage alliances.  

On the eve of their 18th birthday, Yeoshin was in her room sewing a hanbok she plans to gift her brother when she suddenly heard a commotion outside, blood splattered on her door which shocked her. In a state of shock, she crawled away from the door. A man covered in blood emerged from her doorway. After looking into his eyes, she suddenly felt comfortable as she was being hypnotized and offered her blood to the man. He reached for her hands and drank her blood, after that, darkness. 

She woke up inside a coffin the next day. She doesn't know how long she's been there but she oddly didn't panic and grasped for air. She callled out for help when she could suddenly hear the soil moving on top of her. Suddenly, her coffin opens and finds Namshin offering her a hand. She smiled and reached out to him. Together, they tried figuring out what the hell happened.

Through the years, she learned how to adjust with the time and considers herself vegan as she only drinks animal blood or cruelty free human blood through blood banks.
