War of Wonderland- Soyoung/Fat Cat Background/Personality

Background

Soyoung looked like a sickly girl at age seventeen. She was thin with pale skin and stringy brown hair. Evidence of malnutrition hung to her bones and she was broken; but for why, she doesn't know. Soyoung suffers from Retrograde  amnesia, not remembering anything but the one word 'Wonderland'. For most people this sentence holds no meaning but for Soyoung, it holds the meaning to everything. If she could just find Wonderland then she would know why she can't remember anything, She would know where her parents are. She lived in a big house in the middle of no where with no one but herself. The house was still set up as if a family lived there, minus the layer of dust that accompanied everything besides Soyoung's bedroom, the kitchen, and the bathroom. Evidence of who she was and who here parents were lay all over yet Soyoung couldn't piece it together; or maybe didn't want to. The only thing she could really understand was that her name was Kim Soyoung, her parents were Kim Hyungbok and Kim Hyeori, she was an only child, and she still hadn't a clue where Wonderland was.

Soyoung indulged all her time into figuring out where Wonderland was. She read anything that even briefly mentioned it and even tried looking at world maps to find it. Nothing ever showed up and she was getting desperate. How could there be a whole land that didn't show up on any map? How could this land help her? She couldn't find anything about it. A few times she was about to give up before climbing onto a new wave of determination. After years of turning up empty handed Soyoung finally came across something by accident; a door. It was covered in drapes to keep it hidden, only being revealed when she got her foot stuck on the cloth and tripped, ripping it off in the process. The door, to her amazement, was unlocked. Inside was a small office. On three of the walls lined bookshelves covered from ceiling to floor with old journals. The fourth wall was covered in hand drawn illustrations of weird trees, strange creatures, and unknown objects Soyoung couldn't even begin to imagine what they were. On the desk and small coffee table were scattered maps all with small question marks periodically placed. An empty coffee mug sat on the desk with a dark stain. Everything was covered in dust. The occupant of the office left in a hurry, almost seeming to have vanished into thin air. The room intrigued Soyoung and she poked around a bit. After a half hour of reading through journals and looking through maps and drawings Soyoung came up with two things; This was her dads office, and He was closed to finding Wonderland.

Soyoung practically spent all day in the office. Her house was in the middle of no where and so there was no one else around to pull her from her studies. The only time she wasn't in the office is when she needed to use the bathroom and eat food- which she did more of recently to bring her strength up for her hard core studying. One of the only big clues she could find was an empty spot on the wall. There was a dark rectangle smack in the middle of it as if something used to be there to block the sun and now was not. The object that was there wasn't in the room; she has checked. Now, at age twenty one Soyoung was a healthy girl with an unhealthy obsession of something that should be kept a secret.I f only someone were around to tell her of the terrible curse that followed knowledge of Wonderland. The same curse that left her fatherless and motherless, left her without her memories.

If anyone could could have seen Soyoung study would say she looked like her father. They both hunched over their chairs the same way and they both drew information in with the same round eyes. Even their loopy hand writing was the same. Six years ago was the last time Soyoung's dad sat in his leather bound chair. He had been holed up for days and it was passed time for him to do field work. Hyungbok slipped out with his sketch book. With her husband gone, Hyeori snuck into the office and pulled his map off the wall. This map had a huge red X smeared on with what looked like her lipstick. The X was located close to the house, by their special creek. She made her way out to it to disprove Hyungbok's silly theory and get her husband back. When she arrived at the rabbit hole, however, she tripped on a branch and fell in, disappearing into a world of horrible wonders. When Hyungbok returned to find both his wife and his map missing he panicked; fearing the worst. He immediately ran down the worn path but made it to the hole too late. The only thing left of his wife was a red ribbon she always tied her hair back with.

For the next two years Hyungbok was an empty shell of his former self. He closed up his office and never touched it again. Him and Soyoung became distant, like strangers living in the same house. Hyungbok never left the house after that until one day when Soyoung came home from shopping to find her dad gone. A bad feeling thrived in the pit of her stomach and she raced to the only spot she knew he would be; the creek. The creek was special to the family. It was the place Hyungbok first confessed to Hyeori, the place he asked her out, the place he asked her to marry him, the place she announced her pregnancy, the place they had family dinners every November the twenty fourth, and finally the place her mom disappeared. Like her father, Soyoung arrived too late. Her dad was hanging from the weeping willow tree, neck broke and a note in his hand. Soyoung was too shocked to cry or speak. All she did was scream. after an hour of just plan screaming the tears started flowing. Then two hours after that she lost her voice and composed herself enough to remove the note from her father's hand and read it. 'Dear Soyoung, I am sorry you have to find me this way and I'm sorry I had to leave you. I couldn't take the pain anymore and so you are now on your own. Don't follow my foot steps and stay away from Wonderland. Don't even mention it's name. Love, Daddy.' On the ground by the tree trunk lay his round spectacles and her mom's red ribbon. She left them both as we walked back home.

Soon Soyoung forgot what happened to her family. Forgot what horrors Wonderland produced. Over time she calculated where the rabbit hole was and decided to make her way there. Unable to take the not knowing anymore. Her path lead her down the worn road and too the creek. Her father's body was gone now, not that she ever knew it was there in the first place. The only thing that was out of place was the dirty spectacles and faded red ribbon. Soyoung scooped them up and slid them in her pocket; not knowing their importance. From there she approached the rabbit hole. But before she made it she tripped on a branch and fell into the rabbit hole like her mother did all those years ago.

Personality

Soyoung is determined. She loved reading and learning new things; making it an obsession. Due to her obsession she is a bit anti-social; preferring books to people most days. In this sense she is exactly like her father. They both are hard headed and won't drop something unless they have ripped it part and examined it from the insides. These traits cause her to both teach her wonderful and helpful things but sometimes it causes terrible things to happen. Falling down the rabbit hole for an example.

Like her mother, Soyoung is kind-hearted and an animal lover. Most animals don't mind her company especially when she sings. Contradicting her anti-social behaviour, she is actually a people person. She can talk easily to people- same as her mother- but just chooses not too. She has a crazy need for order and tidiness; she'll clean any mess she can find.
