    PERSONALITY »

    +Cautious and Clear thinking: Dan is extremely cautious whenever he's undergoing a mission which proves useful as he does not act without thinking. He assess the situation completely and decides which course of action to take. He sometimes gives orders to his teammates that will help in their situation and minimize casualties. Because of this, his opinions in planning a mission are greatly taken into consideration. Most of the mission planning is done by him as he pushes himself to ensure that no casualties are made during a mission.

    +Calm and a Good Listener: Dan rarely loses him cool. He does not like to raise his voice at other people and does not encourage loud bickering. When he does get annoyed, he tells them to stop it and reminds them that what nonsense they are doing is not going to help them in the war. He listens to other people's problems because he knows that's how people will calm down faster and might give them a little bit of advice. 

    +Caring (To a certain degree): Dan does not show it but he cares for the well-being of his teammates. Not because they are special to him but because he thinks that their mission would be jeopardized if they are not well. Whenever there is a mission ongoing, he will follow on suit, being aware of everyone in case anything goes haywire and will try his absolute best to minimize casualties. But if he thinks that you're a gone case, he's not going to care for your sorry .

    +Straightforward: Dan does not suger coat his words. When he finds something displeasing, he will announce it to everyone, hurting a few hearts in the process. He can be hard and firm when announcing something but most of the words he says are genuine and usually allows the person to wake up from his or her mistakes. 

    -Selfish: Dan is not one to offer any help to anyone should they ask for it. He thinks of himself and himself alone. This can bring strain to the group as he does not help them unless it benefits him. This makes him quite difficult to work with at times. He will offer help however if he thinks it will help you in the near future (eg. Learning how to fix a broken circuit, changing a light bulb, converting a mechanical thingamabob into another mechanical thingamabob etc.)

    -Depressed: After his brother died, Dan is stuck with depression. He has his ways of hiding it from his teammates by not expressing any particular emotion whenever he's with them. He does not express much happiness when around people or even when he's alone. He rarely talks about his past and will blow his top off should anyone touch on the subject. But on good days, you might see him crack a tiny upward curve of a smile

    -Not a Team Player: Dan does not like working with others as he does not trust anyone enough to give them responsibilites. He will always try to do as much as he can by himself and rarely asks for any help from anybody.

    -A Flight Risk: Dan has a chance of not following missions to its entirety. He might abandon the mission when he feels that it's going to fail and will flee should it happen. This happened a couple of times which is the main reason why he was sent to be put under sleep.

    Overall Summary: Good in mission planning. Will lay out the instructions for the mission but whether you follow it or not is up to you. He will not force you into following it. If the plan goes haywire, he will at first try to minimize the casualties. But if it's too much, he will leave everyone to save his own skin. He will try, to a certain extent in keeping you alive for his benefit but if you're useless, he will drop you. Speaks his mind, doesn't give 2 s whether you'll be hurt by it. Will you give you his honest opinions should you ask him for it. Quite a good listener and will listen to your problems (If you're not going to be butthurt by his opinions) and will teach you a few tricks that he thinks will help you in surviving (mainly so that you wouldn't bother him so much)

     


    TRIVIA » 
    -Despite his fierce and independent persona, he will soften up around children. 
    -Whenever visiting a new area, he finds bottle caps and small items and then buries them near lamposts or unique buildings. A reminder on the places he visited before.
    -He avoids closed areas and likes to stay outside of buildings. He can try to stay in a building but it will make him more edgy and tensed.
    -He wakes up early in the morning to see the sunrise, knowing that it might be the last sunrise he would ever see.

    -Before he sleeps, he takes one last look at his brother's dog tag which he hangs concealed on his neck.

    -He has a tattoo on the back of his neck with the roman numerals 18

    STRENGTHS»

    -His two legs are built to be jumpy and springy so he can jump tall heights with ease 
    -Both of his legs conceals a sword and a shotgun which he can change whenever in combat. (Watch Kingsman: The Secret Service for a better understanding of what he can do)

    -He's useful in repairing anything mechanical, having worked as a mechanic before.

    -He knows how to fly a plane having taken lessons from when he was working as a plane mechanic



    WEAKNESSES» 
    -Dan has the tendecies of fleeing the group to scope out the area first or to have some time for himself, causing them to be vulnerable sometimes
    -His legs needs constant maintenance and may sometimes malfunction when not treated for at least once every other week

    -Dan has slight agoraphobia. He gets more edgy when inside a builing. (Fear of closed spaces) 

    -Dan has PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). He will have sudden flashbacks of his brother dying and this results in him being panicky and easily startled. Most of these happens whenever he doesn't take a pill within the time period. This results in him having little to no sleep due to the trauma.

    -Dan is extremely patient with other people but when he snaps, he literally snaps. He'll be extremely violent to whoever pushed him to his limits. The reason on why he would lose his cool would be if;

    1.) One of the members pesters him about his past (especially his little brother)

    2.) A member blames the mission failing on him 

    3.) A member mentions about how selfish and insensitive he is and that he's better off dead
     

     

    MY PAST DOESN'T MATTER, DOES IT.

    BACKGROUND » 

    Dan and his 9 years younger little brother, Alex were born in Canada before their family moved to Germany when Dan was aged 16. His family wasn't exactly happy with each other, his father was an addicted gambler and his mother was an uncontrollable alchoholic. They were extremely abusive to their kids and Dan knew if they stayed with them longer, it would only kill them. So once he turned 18, Dan moved out of the family, taking Alex along with him. He became more of a father towards Alex and took on the role of his parent figure and bread winner. He made sure Alex was able to grow up in safe conditions and was determined to make their lives easier.

    He studied hard, working part time jobs and found himself extremely proficient in fixing and building mechanics. His talents were sought out and he was given a scholarship. He worked as a plane mechanic afterwards.

     

    When the aliens first attacked, Dan was only 24 years old. Alex wanted to join the army to fight in the alien war and quarreled with Dan when he refused. He told him not to enlist as he was afraid of losing him but Alex was persistent. He cried out that he couldn't stand back and not do anything when the world was in danger and left to enlist at their community building. Worried, Dan ran after him in the community building, when the aliens suddenly attacked. The attack caused the building to collapse, resulting to Alex's death. Dan suffered critical injuries himself but he survived.

     

    Dan was sent to the hospital where the doctors had no choice but to amputate both of his legs. Waking up legless made him borderline suicidal and he did not feel the drive to continue living until the governement offered him the opportunity to be modified. Dan agreed to the procedure, feeling the need to uphold Alex's wishes to join the army and was subjected to experiments. He was given metal legs and other parts of her body was enhanced. He asked them to make him two dog tags, one for himself, "Daniel K. Mercer", and one for his brother, "Alex J. Mercer". He hangs his brother's dog tag on his neck, underneath his clothes.

     

    Throughout his procedures being done, Dan is diagnosed by the doctors with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) due to the accident and seeing his brother die in front of him. This caused him to have recurrent nightmares and to have a panicky behaviour for an hour after a flashback. He is prescribed pills by the doctors which helps suppress the flachbacks but need to be taken once every five or six hours.

     

    When the procedures were done, the government sent him for a test drive and assigned him missions to observe how well he worked. In solo missions, he passed with flying colours but failed miserably in team missions. His mission planning was above average but he'd flee when the mission was failing. Despite him excelling in solo missions and mission planning, he was deemed as a failure because of his lack of teamwork and his tendency of aborting the mission. He was put under sleep because of that, until he woke up years later.

     

    FAMILY & FRIENDS OF THE PAST» Alexander "Alex" J. Mercer / Little Brother / They were closely knitted together and Dan cared for him dearly. He was more of a son than a brother to him. He took his death pretty hard, being more introverted and stiff. To him, he was his whole life and he blamed himself for not stopping him from enlisting. 



    RELATIONS OF THE NOW» 

    Peace / Dan is not entirely convinced about Peace's views on the war. He's pretty much sure that the first person to die would be Peace because of the 'Holier than I' facade. Dan does however appreciate the fact that Peace still had that much hope in her, that thing boosts morale to a dozen. Not like he'll admit. He and Peace are not that close, Peace cares for Dan's wellbeing, including his dark past whereas Dan finds her personality very annoying at times. However, Peace will grow on Dan as they carry on together.

    Aggression / Dan and Aggression understand each other in most ways, despite both of them not admitting. Both of them lost a person they loved and Dan can breathe easily around him/her because they don't talk about their past. Dan looks out for Aggression more because he knows how it feels going through life without their loved one. He relies on Aggression to carry out most of the 'destructive' objectives, however he finds his/her lack of control hard to handle in a mission. Should Aggression go on one of his/her rages, Dan would be one of the first to try to contain him. 

    Nonchalance / Dan tries his best to work with Nonchalance, despite him finding his lack of initiative infuriating most of the time. He hates it when he shrugs off his plans but will try to be patient most of the time. Dan however, does appreciate his presence on some meetings because he calms him not to overthink missions too much. Dan and him are on acquaintance terms, he sometimes smirk at his jokes.

    Tired / Like Nonchalance, he finds him/her lack of initiative infuriating. Both Nonchalance and Tired are on his watching list during missions because he has to keep both of them in line. He however spends most of his time around Tired because he likes to talk to him/her about the war, both discussing opinions and strategies. But most of the time, their company is spent on silence.

    Creativity / Depends on the personality. You can do whatever you wish with Dan and Creativity

    Summary: Out of the four, he's closest to Aggression and Tired, acquaintance with Nonchalance (He smirks at some of his jokes) and annoyed with Peace.

    SCENE REQUESTS »

    -I was hoping that there might be a small scene where Dan was apart from his group (After having a fght with them because of his selfishness) and came across a small kid. He'll then take care of him until his parents came back. One of his teammates would have seen the whole scenario and told the group about what happened, resulting in them being somewhat more forgiving towards his supposed 'selfish' ways.

    -Dan having a fight with Peace and telling her not to talk about his past

    -Dan having to control Aggression when he goes on an extremely bad rampage. 

    -Dan fixing a cable circuit and tells Nonchalance to plug in a circuit and this results badly as Nonchalance is electrocuted for spilling water on it.

    -Dan and Tired have a heart-to-heart after one of the missions failing and Dan feels at fault

    -Dan and Creativity have a duo mission together (IDK just for fun :/)
