Advice for a Beginner?

I'm completely new to writing. I want to test out the waters, but I honestly don't know where to begin.

Every author had to start out at one point, so I just want to ask for a small favor - does anyone have a few words of advice?

Would anyone mind sharing their writing experience, or what it was like for them when they first began?

Thank you so much to those that do decide to comment on this blog post. ♡

I would like to add to the previous comment because that's how I get my ideas too~! XD Haha but when I get writer's block, I just tell myself to just type everything out first and worry about wording and grammar later. Just type out what's on your mind, otherwise you won't get anywhere :P

Advice? I don't know if this suits you but I usually get my stories from dreams or imaginations.. if you get what I mean? Some of my random ideas just pops out when I'm bathing or something and then I get mental pictures of the stories. The words are then slowly shaped out after hours of pondering.. Hehe! I wouldn't say I'm a good writer since I am not like some writers whose ideas just overflow non-stop. I do get the writer's block quite often. XD

for me i've been writing for a really long time, when i first started writing i did it for fun and to say the least i was really bad. My stories where cliche and extremely short. I began messing around with different ideas that would pop into my head and then write small scenarios surrounding them and eventually those scenarios became full length stories.
Also there's different forms of writing some people can only write one shots while others can only write chaptered stories. Personally i prefer to write one shots because it's less of a commitment, i do write lengthier fics though, it just depends on how much i love the idea of the story.
That's another thing, if you don't love the story you're working on don't write it. i've abandoned so many stories just because i wasn't' feeling them anymore. it's okay to abandon projects. Most authors have more abandoned stories than they do published just because they weren't' happy with the story or they didn't love their characters and left it half done or almost done. It's okay to trudge along for a period of time while writing but if it's taking you too long to love the story then it probably isn't meant to be written at that time, maybe abandon it for a while and then come back to it a couple of months later if you still aren't feeling it then maybe it's just meant to kept as an idea.
just go with what makes you comfortable but also try and push yourself to reach new limits; but do it for yourself, the view counts and subscribers and amount of comments don't matter because you should be writing for your pure enjoyment and not for fame on a website.

1. Write for yourself (and not for your subscribers or comments or upvotes.)
2. Write even when you don't want to, and finish projects you start.
3. Learn from others but don't compare <3

Cheers!

Hmmm when I first started out, I had a rather cliche storyline and paid no attention to character development and that kind of made my story all over the place :p But just like sweetsonata mentioned, I enjoyed it lots when I just wrote whatever I wanted. Now, having to follow a specific set of rules and guidline really affected my passion towards writing.

Honestly, I joined the site because I liked writing and liked making characters out of these kpop idols, so when I first started writing here, I just went with how I felt. I didn't care about the cliché storyline, the redundancy of my sentences, the color coding that I might have done for the first few chapters... (it was a new time for me ><) but point is that I did it out of pure enjoyment, which is exactly what you should do!

It was only afterwards that I realized that it was mediocre at best, then started to care about sentence structure and all that stuff reviewers care about. :P But it helped me improve, and as much as I find my first fic cringeworthy, I leave it up to bring back nostalgia. :)
