PERSONALITY
+ BACKGROUND

 Behind the Mask

PERSONALITY:

Risk Taker (Adventurous) – Jiyoung isn’t afraid to try new things or go to the next level. As crazy as it sounds, she’ll usually take risks towards her career. This is when her confidence kicks in.  Jiyoung is up for anything new but if she feels like it’ll hurt her image, she isn’t afraid to say no.

Confident – Everything Jiyoung does, she has confidence to back her up. Jiyoung doesn’t overcommit and doesn’t make false promises. Jiyoung only does certain things that she knows that she’s capable to do. Jiyoung’s confidence mainly comes from her singing. She knows that she’s a great singer and isn’t afraid to show it. When she was first starting off as a trainee, her self-confidence was low. She believed that her voice wasn’t any match to the other trainees but after improving and getting positive feed back from others, her confidence started to rise.

Never give up attitude - Once Jiyoung has a clear goal of something she wants, she'll fight to achieve that goal. In this case her goal is to make it into the kpop scene. Jiyoung had put a lot of hard work into her training so she could be great in all 3 of the major fields: Singing, Rapping, and Dancing. As crazy as it sounds, Jiyoung takes criticism extremely well. She believes criticism is a way of saying "You can do better". Every time she'd get criticized about something she'll push herself to improve it. So in a way during her training years she was improving off criticism. Once the criticism stopped, she knew perfected one of the major fields.

Independent - Jiyoung is the type of person that doesn’t depend on others. After moving into to Seoul without her family, she wanted to take care of herself without the help of her family. Every luxurious thing that she has, Jiyoung has bought using her own money she earned from working at multiple jobs. People around her think she’s too young to reach the independent stage but Jiyoung could care less. She rather get the things she needs right away instead of waiting for her parents to get it for her like most people do at her age.

Competitive - Since being in sports ever since she was a kid, Jiyoung developed a competitive side. She needed to be first or at the top of everything she participated in. If Jiyoung won something (most of the time a sport) she'll have to tell everyone about it a.k.a rub in his or her faces. Jiyoung knows that her competitiveness can get out of hand but it something that she can't control that well. Just the idea of her winning over a group of people makes her happy. Unfortunately, due to her competitiveness, Jiyoung has lost some friends. Jiyoung is trying her best to keep it under control but like said before the idea of her winning over a group of people makes her happy.

Strict – Jiyoung only shows her strict side when it comes to work. Usually Jiyoung wouldn’t care if other horsed around because at times she’ll do that as well but when there is a task job related, her full attention is on that. If something doesn’t become complete, Jiyoung will flip out. At training/practice Jiyoung has a tendency to scold other if they aren’t paying attention. People will instantly think she’s coming off rude even if she asks them to pay attention nicely. It’s just something that Jiyoung can’t change about herself.
Tough – Jiyoung’s personality isn’t tough but rather she’s physically tough. Before moving to Seoul on her own, her sister forced her to take a self-defense class with her back in Busan. Jiyoung hasn’t needed to use those defenses yet but if she ever gets into a harmful situation, she won’t hesitate to use them. At a gym in Seoul, Jiyoung meets up with her personal trainer to keep her body in shape and to gain muscle as well. Even though she has been fit since at a young age, meeting up with her personal trainer is away to keep her active side up.

Secretive – As bad as it sounds, Jiyoung is a secretive person. She’s the person that you can tell all your secrets to and won’t have to worry about her spreading it around. If Jiyoung hears people talking about someone she’s acquainted to she won’t tell that person until she can’t hold in anymore. Jiyoung mainly does this to protect the person’s feelings. Jiyoung finds it confusing when she’s the one getting yelled at for not telling what’s been said.

Sarcastic – There are two sides to Jiyoung’s Sarcasm. There’s the funny side and then theres the y side. Jiyoung tends to show the y side often.  Jiyoung uses her sarcasm when someone says something stupid or illogical.  The tone Jiyoung uses usually makes that person’s self esteem go down. Jiyoung knows about the issue with her sarcasm and she’s working on it as best as she can.  Every time she feels her negative sarcasm coming up, she’ll try changing it into something comedic. At times it will slip out and she’ll apologize quickly for it. This is the flaw of hers that she hates the most.

BACKGROUND: Jiyoung was brought into fairly normal home. She has 2 parents that love her to death and an older sister who thought she was an odd creature...but still loved her^^ As Jiyoung started to develop, her parents started to become worried about her. Jiyoung was able to do what all the toddlers were able to do...except for talking. After having many checkups done, Jiyoung was diagnosed with a speech delay. The doctor recommended her parents to have Jiyoung to go through speech therapy for at least a year. By the age of 4 Jiyoung's speech has been improving little by little until she was fully able to talk at the age 5.

All throughout her school years, Jiyoung was known as the best at sports/most competitive. While other classmates dreaded gym class, Jiyoung was extremely eager to play. Every sport/game she participated in she took it very serious to the point when it becomes scary. Her father on the other hand enjoyed that side of her. Unlike Jiyoung's older sister Jihyun, Jihyun preferred having princess tea parties instead of energy consuming sports. Every day after school, Jiyoung and her father would gather in the background and throw the old pig skin around (football). Jiyoung and her father became inseparable. After years had passed, everything changed.

It was when Jiyoung entered high school when the changes started occur. As Jiyoung entered high school, she started to become self aware. Every time Jiyoung would look at sister, she'd become instantly jealous of her. Jihyun was incredible gorgeous, wore makeup, looked amazing in clothes that fit her body well, was popular in school and is extremely talented at dancing. Jiyoung wanted to be just like her. Building up the courage, Jiyoung finally asked her sister to change her into well...her. Jiyoung transformed into a look alike of her sister. Going from tomboy to girly was hard for Jiyoung. She quit all of her sport activities, which shocked a lot of people, and started to do more girly things, which shocked people even more.

The following year (Jiyoung in her sophomore year and Jihyun in her senior year) her parents had revealed that there will be an addition to the family. At first the two sisters thought their mother was pregnant but that wasn't the case. Their parents’ decided to adopt a little boy at the age of 4. When Jiyoung heard the news she was extremely happy, she had always wanted a little brother well a brother in general. As her family was preparing for the little boy, Jiyoung started thinking of what her brother would think of her. The usual thoughts popped up but it wasn't long until one interesting thought ran through her head. What would he think about the transformation she had? The last thing she wanted was him thinking its okay to change the way you look or change the way you interact with others in order to fit in. Making up her mind, Jiyoung went back to her old self that has a hint of girly to it. When her little brother arrived Jiyoung was happy to see that him and her had most of the same interest. Getting along with each other was easy unlike some people *cough, cough* Jihyun *cough, cough*.

Moving fast forward 2 years, Jiyoung attended a performance her sister was in. During the warm ups, Jihyun had asked
Jiyoung to sing the warm song since the group didn't have the sing with them. Jiyoung has heard the song many, many times to the point when she remembers the lyrics to it. Jiyoung sung ever verse and chorus just as the singer did. Even though she didn't sound exactly like the singer, she sung just as she did just to familiarize the girls. While Jiyoung was singing, there was someone watching them from a far. After finishing the song, the mysterious man made himself known to the girls. He introduced him as a Woollim Entertainment employee that scouts for talent. He offered the girls training at Woollim but none of the girls were interested on becoming an idol instead of Jiyoung.

Telling her parents was easy. Her parents supported the idea and believed it would be a great learning experience for Jiyoung. Jiyoung and her parents made a deal. It Jiyoung doesn't debut by the time she finishes collage then she must leave Woollim Entertainment and return home. Jiyoung though this deal was reasonable so she instantly agreed to. With 2 suitcases, Jiyoung was on her way to Seoul.

Sadly, Jiyoung's training at Woollim Entertainment didn't last long. As she was training, she started to learn more about herself. Jiyoung was going to be placed in Woollim's new girl group Lovelyz but the cute style didn't fit her. The only entertainment company that had her hip-hop style was YG Entertainment. Taking the risk, Jiyoung quit Woollim Entertainment and auditioned for YG Entertainment.

At YG, Jiyoung was able to expand more her dancing. Like most trainees, they have the ability to express themselves through lyrics but for Jiyoung the only way for her to express herself is through her dancing

     LOVE INTEREST

Lee Howon - Infinite

PERSONALITY: Hoya is most known as the best dancer of Infinite. When you get to know his personality you will be able to realize that he is an perfectionist. Out of all the infinite members, Hoya is only one who would rather practice all day instead of playing. Hoya takes his practicing very seriously. He would stay late at the company and practice so eagerly. Outside of loving to practice, Hoya is a very outgoing guy it his close ones. Hoya is the type of person who treasures his close ones and treats them with the utmost respect. However Hoya can become scary. When he is angry/upset it's best stay away and let him cool down. Or if your brave enough you can try calming him down (most of the time it doesn't work).

Interactions:
Jiyoung and Hoya are touchy feely (Not in a naughty way ;-) ) with each other. Since they can't really hang out with each other in public they've decided they'd always meet up in one of the dance studios in Woollim entertainment. When they speak to each other, they'll speak in dialect so no one would understand what their saying to each other. Sometimes they'll joke around by calling each other 'honey' or 'babe' when they are in private but if they ever see each other in a public places their nicknames are dropped and first names is a must. When they text each other it's a cuteness overload. In Jiyoung's phone Hoya put his contact as 'The One&Only< 3'. At first Jiyoung was hesitant about his contact name because she would need to have her phone beside her 24/7. She wouldn't want people to be curious about who her mystery man is.

ANYTHING ELSE: (HISTORY) Hoya and Jiyoung's first meeting wasn't pleasant. It was before the training sessions had started. At that time it was early in the morning which resulted Jiyoung to wake up in a cranky mood. Like every morning Jiyoung would go to the training room warm up by stretching. Minah, Jiyoung's worst enemy, walked into the training room already looking for trouble. Usually Jiyoung would ignore her but the teasing Minah did really pissed her off.

With a huff, Jiyoung stood up from the ground and then gave it to her. The words she shouted at Minah were the most negative things she's every said to anyone. Jiyoung pointed ever flaw Minah had and how horrible her personality is. When Jiyoung finished her rant, she looked over the facial expression Minah was wearing. Minah look she was going to break down into tears. Jiyoung instantly felt bad. Jiyoung was about to apologize for what she said but Minah cut her off. The words she cried out baffled Jiyoung. "Why are you always like this to me?! I've never done anything wrong to you so why must you do wrong to me?"

Jiyoung just looked at her as she tried to process what she just said to her. Was she hearing her correctly? Shouldn't she be the one asking her those questions? Before Jiyoung could utter a word she heard someone clear their throat. Turing around, Jiyoung came face to face with Infinite's Hoya…a pissed off Hoya. Jiyoung prayed he hadn't seen what she just did but judging from his expression he had heard. Being the good man he is, Hoya stood up for Minah and that made Jiyoung even madder. Usually Jiyoung wouldn't argue with anyone who is a higher class or someone that is older but what Hoya did really irked her.

The other trainees watched in shock as Hoya and Jiyoung went back and forth. Jiyoung was trying to tell him calmly (key word trying) that Minah is in the wrong but Hoya wasn't believing her. From how he saw it Jiyoung was bullying Minah. Giving up, Jiyoung collected her training bag and left the room. For the first time Jiyoung skipped out on training.

Once night fall hit, Jiyoung returned back to Woollim Entertainment. Like usual the building was mostly empty which Jiyoung found perfect. Jiyoung went to her favorite dance room. Since there was barely anyone here, Jiyoung blasted the music. Dancing was an area she was great at but as she danced her mind kept going back to the events that happened early. She couldn't believe she acted like something she hates, a bully, and stooped down to Minah's level.

As Jiyoung tried to concentrate on her dancing, she wasn’t aware that someone was watching her through the little window on the door. Hoya instantly recognized her. He watched Jiyoung stumble over the dance moves and thought about helping her but he remembered what she did to Minah. Shaking his head, Hoya his heels and went to the dance studio that was next to Jiyoung's.

It hasn't even been an hour yet and Hoya was back on his way to the dance studio Jiyoung was in. Jiyoung's music was too loud to the point where Hoya could barely hear his own music. Hoya was about to barge into the room but what he seen through the window somehow broke his heart. In the middle of the room Jiyoung was sitting down with her knees pulled up to her chest and her head resting on them. By the way her body was shaking he knew she was crying.

Seeing her like this sent pain to his heart. His body acted on it's on as it quitely walked into the room. Jiyoung heard the opening of the door and looked up to see Hoya standing a few inches away from her. Jiyoung wiped her tears as she wait for Hoya to continue yelling from the morning. Instead he asked why she was crying. The question caught her off guard. At first she was hesitantly to answer but she finally opened up. Hoya sat next to her she told him the situation with Minah.

After finding out what was actually going on, a wave of guilty went over him. Hoya apologized for yelling at her that morning. Jiyoung accepted his apology but she continued to cry about the situation. Like before, Hoya's body acted on its own, Hoya scooted closer to Jiyoung and wrapped his arms around her.

(cONCLUSION)
(Jiyoung's birthday party) For a birthday present to Jiyoung, Hoya performs a song that he wrote specifically for Jiyoung. In the song it described all the things he liked about and her and the reason why he fell in love with her. After the song is over, he then asks Jiyoung to be his girlfriend and she happily -in tears- said yes!

Back Up Love Interest (optional): Jonghyun (shinee)
