APPEARANCE: He looks a lot like Eric Nam with the pointed nose and narrow face strutcure. However, he does stand at a slender 177cm. He's not incredibly tall, but he does have lean muscles from playing basketball as a hobby in his free time. He has slightly red colored hair with natural blonde highlights that show up in the sun. Also, he has bad eyesight ( -2.0 in left eye and -1.5 in right eye) forcing him to wear glasses on days off at the dorm and contacts on stage and in public.
Hyukmin also has piecings along his  right ear that he interchanges.
STYLE: Hyukmin's style is very versatile to the point that he can rock skinny jeans and muscle shirts and a classy suit. He prefers dressing casually in a pair of skinny jeans, sneakers and a jacket/hoodie. When he is required to clean up, he rocks a plain black suit with black converse sneakers or black polished shoes. In regards to accessories, he wears sunglasses, bracelets and often interchanges the piercings in his ear. 

PERSONALITY:

To say that Hyukmin isn’t a bit dorky in private would be an understatement. He’s true to himself and that is he is dorky all the time. Constantly laughing and smiling, Hyukmin is definitely the first to make people feel welcome and break the ice in any situation. He's very dorky and often claps and laughs a lot. A hard worker, Hyukmin knows what he wants and he goes after it. The young man is charming to a point and he loves to have fun. He's dorky but that's his charm. He's geeky, and fun. Hyukmin takes it to the max, with constant references to pop culture and style. He knows he's dorky and he flaunts it. However, when he gets too excited about something he's really into, his voice goes up and he gets really loud and enthiuastic. His loudness isn't a good thing since he gets excited at the worst possible moments like when the group is supposed to be serious.

Hyukmin was always taught to be courteous and helpful to people around him, since one would never know when that help may bring itself around. As an ESTJ (Myers Briggs Typology Test: Extravert, Sensing, Thinking, Judging), Hyukmin thrives on order and continuity. Being extraverted, his focus involves organization of people, which translates into supervision. He is content to enforce "the rules," often dictated by tradition or handed down from a higher authority. He has a tendency to seek out like-minded companions in clubs, civic groups, churches and other service organizations. Service, the tangible expression of responsibility, is another key focus for ESTJs. He loves to provide and to receive good service. Not only is he a people person, but he's also very goal oriented. He strives to get things done and that totally goes his way or it doesn't. When it doesn't, he doesn't depress over it, since it's pointless and it's not going to get him anywhere.

Hyukmin is very classy and he knows what to say to girls to charm them. His flirtaciousness knows no bounds and he does put himself off to being very much like a playboy. He doesn't really have a clear commitment to relationships, choosing to flirt around instead. It's a skill that he picked up from his father. Good looks and good manners run in the family. Hyukmin is considered to be a flower boy but he is not. His dorkiness sometimes takes away from that charming classy aura he exudes and it's often come back to Hyukmin that he should work on his charisma. Since good looks run in the family, Hyukmin is vain. Not as vain as his father, but still pretty vain. He does have those moments that he thinks that he's better than anyone else. He dresses very stylishly convinced that people will love and admire you if you dress well, if you look good.

Not only is he a bit vain, Hyukmin is also incredibly stubborn. Being a stubborn stubborn boy, he will always try his best to think of his friends first whenever they are around, and even when they aren't because he truly cares for them. He is very impulsive and will do whatever comes to mind before thinking about it. He is extremely funny and even though at times he is quiet he still knows how to have fun. Adding onto that vanity, stubbornness, is Hyukmin's indecisiveness. He will ages to make up his mind completely, often changing it several times before he actually decides. But then he ends up second guessing himself constantly.

How he acts around people:

Female Members/Females in General: Hyukmin tries to act around them as he does around his mother and sister. He is respectful and polite at first, almost like a coworker, but when he gets close to them, he becomes like the older brother figure that they can come to and just talk without being judged, because he understands how it feels to be in their shoes. He tries to give them advice and help out as much as he can.

Male Members: With his younger dongsaengs, Hyukmin laughs and teases them about all the things while at the same time providing the advice that they want to hear. He picked up things from his own dad and incorporated them into his leadership adding to his personality style. He teases s but it's all with love.

The managers: With the managers, Hyukmin acts every inch the leader. He listens attentively and takes notes when needed on his phone to make sure that he has all the notices and all the relevant items to make sure that his fellow members are on track and working hard. On variety shows:

On variety shows, he lets his dorkiness shine. He gets bullied for his dorkiness but he just laughs it off and keeps being his usual self.

With fans: With fans, he's courteous, always accepting their gifts and requests to take selcas with them. Once they leave, he bows and thanks them for coming to support the group, since he knows that it's the fans that make the group successful.

MC: With MC's, he lets his dorky side out. Much like with variety shows, he gets teased by MCs but he takes it all in good stride, and tries to be as much a leader as he can under these situations.

BACKGROUND:

Jang Juhyeok and Ryu Heejin met in the year 1977 when Juhyeok was in Japan for business and Heejin worked in a restaurant as a waitress. They met in December of 1975. Juhyeok had brought his coworkers to the Otani Garden where Heejin worked. From the moment he saw the delicate waitress, he wanted to know more about her and spent the evening ordering more and more food that they were never going to eat just to talk to Heejin and when she noticed his plan, she had slipped him her phone number and gave him the call me gesture. He did so after he got back his hotel that evening. They started dating in January of 1979, and they steadily dated for ten years before Juhyeok proposed in that same restaurant where they met in October of 1986. A year later they were married and Heejin came to live with Juhyeok in Korea.

In April of 1995, they received a gift. Hyukmin was born on April 23, 1995 as the first child. Almost like a eight year anniversary gift for the couple, he came a healthy and happy baby. Always curious and crawling around, Hyukmin was meant for greater. Jang  Juhyeok owned his own business since 1983 in technology, working on developments in technology. His mother, Ryu Heejin inherited her family's restaurant. His parents worked hard all the time and so, Hyukmin was left alone with nannies for the first two years of his life because then his mother sold the restaurant. At the age of three, Hyukmin became an older brother and that made him annoyed. He was no longer the star child of the family.

He was jealous of Juhyun and always made a point of torturing her. When he was 5, his parents moved to Tokyo for six years. While living in Japan, he went to music school and studied singing, rapping and dancing. At the age of 13, he sang at the school talent show with the song Creep and won first place in it.

At the age of 15, in 2010, he auditioned for YG for the first time with the song Creep. However, his voice was too high, not enough emotion was poured into the voice and YG, telling him that told him to go and come back when he was more improved. In 2013, at the age of 18, Hyukmin came back to audition once more for YG. Over the past three years, he went to singing lessons and even sang occasionaly with Joonyoung and his band, earning more and more experience and practicing his voice. Also at 18, he felt that he could pour more emotion into his voice, since he had already fallen in love once and had his heart broken by a girl. Standing in front of YG again, his voice was slightly deeper and more emotion poured into the song as he sang. YG acknowledged the improvement and accepted Hyukmin as a trainee in YG Entertainment. Both times that he had chosen Creep was because of the significance the song had in his life. Radiohead’s Pablo Honey was the first album he got as a gift from his parents at the age of 12. Creep was the song that awakened his own ual understanding of his biuality since the song tells the tale of an inebriated man who tries to get the attention of a woman to whom he is attracted by following her around. In the end, he lacks the self-confidence to face her and feels he subconsciously is her.
