BACKGROUND - PAST »

        any isn't born a . sure she has a glamorous mother who pressures her to be just as perfect as she was, but that itself doesn't equal an arrogant shrew like her. you see, at first she was born excited to progressively meet her fame and the day her debut comes; the day when people know who kwon jeymi is. but as she gets older, she realized that daddy's got it under control, so she just waits. as her mother always says "life is easy when you're pretty. it's even easier when your father has connections." and she is the epitome of that quote. you can complain that the reason why she even gets to be in front of a camera is due to her father, but at least she's the one with the fame. however waiting 8 long years was a nightmare for her. everyone knew of her high status and the fact that she hadn't debut yet made her a laughing stock amongst the trainees. this high and mighty "princess" hasn't debuted yet after eight years. ridiculous! what a joke. people knew better than to saw it aloud, especially since jeymi has an acute sense of hearing. so for the first two years, she would get constant stares because "her talent didn't bring her here, her daddy's wallet did." however after her third year there, specifically after missA's debut, she had become fed up and the jeymi now was created. she was tired of the bull: the snickers and rude remarks she would receive, jyp's indecisive behaviors of her official debut group, and the shame she had. she removed all those feelings. anyone that dares speak badly of her would receive a very threatening confrontation that consisted of the tall girl and her brilliantly chilling words; "i wouldn't be speaking, even surgery couldn't fix your disastrous face" "at least i had a chance, you don't even get a second glance. won't be long until they remove you from the system." as for jyp, she stayed. why? because she knew they were not going to waste a pretty face like hers. plus would the company really waste all the connections that her father had? most definitely not. as for her insecurity, she embraced the fact that her father would always be there for support.

        first for teaser released and in the middle of all the photoshoots, the spotlight is literally on her 24/7. kwon jeymi is the kai, myungsoo, dara, and yoona of ur and oh boy does it feel good to finally show everyone what's up. it's a competition; you don't get to choose your position, you have to work for it and hell yeah did she work for it–8 long as hell years to be exact. she definitely does not have time to hear about your bull. while you're complaining about how tiring repeating that 30 second dance phrase was, jeymi has spent 8 years learning, memorizing, perfecting, and living that over and over again. kwon jeymi is definitely impatient, and it's not because it's within her. thanks to sm's lack of decision-making, she's built up an ugly complex that even she can't believe she has. she's apathetic towards others (seriously, people are so needy) and she literally lives beyond a mask that the company has spent 8 years producing. but it's okay. kwon jeymi doesn't mind, it's the fame that she wants anyway. with this being said, it's extremely hard to impress her, truly of course.

        vanity runs in her blood. her mother was a ballerina and her father is a stage director. both focuses on making people or yourself look good and exposing the more beautiful side to it. she was raised to acknowledge her beauty and she did just that. she may come off as being cocky or conceited but being humble is just too overplayed nowadays. it's all about self-love and self-appreciation. she is definitely guilty of looking at her reflection when passing a window. always reapplying her lipstick, jeymi is always enhancing her face. if you were to ask her who the prettiest member in the group was, she would say her name in less than a heartbeat. she wouldn't go up to her members and be like "goodness don't i just look smokin' hot today?" no. maybe in her head she's shooting hardcore compliments at herself but she would never publicly announce how y she finds herself–that's for them to say to her.

        if it wasn't obvious already, jeymi's got a huge superiority complex. she knows she's good. she knows she's pretty. she know she is not the strongest at anything but her face makes up for all her shortcomings right? beauty is all it takes to get into the industry and she knows it. clever and observant, jeymi knows what people like; she can be a huge charmer and a natural people pleaser. she's not a constant condescending all the time. although the media will bash on her or call her '' or '' she will laugh it off whole heartedly. criticism is something you get used to when you're pretty. all her life she's been hated on for her looks so a few negative comments about how she's "a " or a "talentless stripper" is not going to harm her. jeymi is thick skinned and it takes A LOT to break her down. she doesn't get taken back by many things. if you were to tell her a sob story, she would laugh about how pathetic you are for even discussing it. "fishing for sympathy," she'd call it.

        when you're not pissing her off, jeymi honestly isn't even that bad. she's got a dry sense of humor that you would laugh about because it's so surprisingly stupid. for example, she'll say a joke in a completely seriously tone and facial expression but she'll laugh with you. she knows that she has to get along with her members, so she's not gonna be such a to them. only when a member decides to be a little head, then she'll go ahead and get at them. aside from that jeymi is kinda somewhat pleasant. on variety shows, she pushes aside her boundaries and become fake and lovable like all idols. on camera jeymi is either y and fierce (while performing of course) while off camera jeymi is an unexpected windstorm of odd humor and .

        when you're not pissing her off of when she decides to chill out, she is quite the outgoing and straight-shooting type. enthusiastic and excitable, she's a "doer" who lives in the world of action. a blunt and straightforward risk taker, she is willing to plunge right into things and get her hands dirty. jeymi lives in the here-and-now, places little importance on interjection. she looks at the facts of a situation, quickly decides what should be done, executes the action, and moves on to the next thing. she has an uncanny ability to perceive people's attitudes and motivations. she picks up on little cues which go completely unnoticed by most people such as facial expressions and stance. typically a couple steps ahead of a person she's interacting with, jeymi uses this ability to get what she wants out of any situation–hence why she's the face of the group; they need that ability to keep the group interesting both visually and for entertainment purposes. she has a strong flair for style and quality. she's fast-moving, fast-talking and has an appreciation for the finer things in life. jeymi is excellent at telling stories and improvising, typically making things up as she goes. again another talent that was co-produced by the company.

        jeymi off-camera and the jeymi on-camera are two different people. off-camera jeymi is very focused, meticulous, and a torture to be around. on-camera jeymi is prone to be teased; everyone likes teasing her. for some reason it's a cute thing to be air-headed (what she's noticed over the years) so she's kept it up kind of like her alter ego. laughing and questioning a joke then slowly understanding it afterwards are just some of her tactics to get the viewers' love. her whole purpose in life is to have fun and enjoy it so she doesn't take it to heart. she would laugh along and even self, but to a certain extend of course. because of this, many people take advantage of her carefree positivity and teasing turns to verbal abuse. keep in mind that she is good with her words so if you do cross that line, she will not hesitate to roar up a storm. she took a debate class so she is the last person to defy. she may seem like an idiot, but she is very clever. pick a fight with her and she will make everything that comes out of our mouth backfire. however her weakness is rejection. she doesn't like anything about it; the thought of it, the deep sorrowful emotion that follows up, and the shame that coats you entirely. although she's faced rejection many times in her life, it is definitely something she will never be able to get used to.

Relationship: both trained under jyp when they were still very young. eventually when you keep seeing the same people over and over again, friendship is inevitable. her training coach always told her to see everyone as a rival but jeymi could never see suzy as a rival. they began to use this tactic to piss off their teachers, purposely making the other look better; it was like improv really. after a while they just gave up and let the girls be–friends. suzy would ask jeymi what thailand was like and she would tell suzy stories of her travelings. they would talk about how they would travel to thailand and the u.s. thanks to this idea of there's, they've been planning this adventure since 14 years old. they still have this wish intact.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE »

        entertainment runs in her family. her mother was a thai actress back in the day and her father is a stage director, currently the stage director for m!countdown. when she was 4, her mother wanted her to go to the same path as her so she taught jeymi acting to kick start her daughter's profile. in elementary school, she joined various school plays often snagging the main role. when she was 7, they took her to go audition for thai variety shows to showcase her cute acting skills. knowing that his daughter would be more successful in korea, her father relocated the family to south korea when she was 8. with his connections, her father was able to get a job at mnet as the main stage director and got her a signed contract under c-jes ent in 2001. after a while the then humble and nice girl asked her father if she could leave the company, due to lack of activities. able to pull some strings, her contract was terminated and she was immediately joined jyp as an actress in 2007 when she was 14. that same year, she filmed her famous soymilk commercial. her family, especially her father, has been very supportive of her. meanwhile her brother is just there to dig her up. typical.

honestly? her father wasn't all too happy about his daughter's boring schedule. derrick has connections and his connections led him to jyp. originally she was just suppose to be training to be an actress, but his "friend" told him that actresses don't make it far and that she would have a higher chance of making it by training to be an idol. and so the switch was made.

when she joined jyp, she was only 14–still too young to be in the projected wonder girls. so they waited and assured her that she would be in missA alongside with suzy. both best friends were so extremely excited about their debut...until she was replaced by jia. yes she was upset but she didn't have any spiteful emotions towards her, during that time jeymi was still very patient and a happy camper. then the company kept assuring her that she would debut. that continued until sunmi came back and debuted. and again they assured her that she would get to finally debut. all these false promises, she had none of it. literally on the brink of leaving until jyp proposed the idea of universal rulers and had her casted in the group: arranging each girls together to see if they looked good as a group. she passed and prepared for her debut.
