Hi?

Hi

Well

I guess I'm kinda new to this (if it wasn't super obvious)

I'm Lucy, but please call me Lou. I'm a writer and I've recently developed a small k-pop obsession. It doesn't really , not much, but in my school there's a lot of people that hate k-pop, including my family. I don't really understand why, but I know for a fact that there's a large English-based community that feels the same way. I guess I want to join that community and find my own little nook.

It's really exciting to join something new, but I can be very awkward when it comes to being new at something. I guess I really want to ask for your patience and help in this, because I'm super excited. So, what else about me?

I discovered k-pop around three years ago at Chinese camp when a girl performed a cover of SHINee's Lucifer dance and I bought the song on iTunes without much thought. The next year, the same girl performed EXO-M's History dance and I bought that song too. This year, I didn't return to the camp, but I found the songs on my iPod. Curious, I looked up the performances on YouTube and I loved it a lot. Starting with SHINee's Everybody and now all of EXO, f(x), and Girl's Generation, I've been looking up songs and listening to them. One group leads to another, and I've loved a lot of it. But of course, not a lot of people share the same enthusiasm for the music. A lot of people hate electronic, dubstep-style music with less emphasis on vocal, but I don't really believe in that.

I live in the United States, on the East Coast. I'm half Chinese and half European, but I've only ever spoken English. I'm starting to learn a bit of Mandarin, and if I'm successful in learning it (hint: never) I want to start learning Korean or possibly Japanese. I'm part of my school's Asian Cultures Club (AKA Anime Club, seriously) so that's where the curiosity for other Asian languages kinda stems from. My friends are HUGE anime and manga lovers, and we're actually begging the school committee to let us go to Japan next year for April break. If that doesn't scream rich white town, I don't know what does. We're really excited though, because they've agreed, but we need to raise money for the trip, and most of our money at the moment is going towards other things (conventions and our sister school in Cambodia).

I'm super excited to join the AFF community, so I hope you'll welcome me!

xoxo Lucy Louis Lee
