How to start a love story?

Kai asked himself as he walked to a group of boys who chatted and laughing badly over some stupid mistake they’ve made during theory class. One of them recognized him and waved with happiness in their every sway which made all attention in the cafeteria moved onto him and truthfully it made his grumpy face scrunched even more and his plump lips went into thin line. As much as he loved his friends, he also hated them because he’s the youngest in group and he got teased the most because he’s not as cheerful as Baekhyun or not as charismatic as Kris or not as witty as Chanyeol or as smart as Suho. He’s just so-so in almost everything which made them called him as all-in-one Kai.

Seriously, if they’re not his friends since he could remember, he’ll ditch this ridiculous friendship right now.

“Where’d have you been?” Suho, the one who waved heavenly at him, asked him to sit next to the red haired boy, “you missed the class, Kai. It’s so unlike you.”

Kai shrugged and stole Chanyeol’s chicken on the table instead. He wasn’t really a talkative person and his friends knew it so they usually let him be. Well, sometimes Chanyeol found a way to bug him just to make him opened his mouth but thankfully, for now his friends let him drowned in peace while they continue listening to another funny story from Baekhyun of a freshman named Tao who confessed to him while tagging along a friend because Tao was too scared to face Baekhyun by himself.

“Do you accept his love?” Suho asked curiously.

Baekhyun giggled, “of course not. I don’t love him, even though he’s handsome and cute in the same time,” but when Kai took a glance at his friend, he saw Baekki expression softened, “but I let him try to get into my heart, and he stole a kiss from me.”

Suho congratulated Baekhyun and Kris snickered while patting the brunette in the back. Chanyeol pouted at how dreamy the story was it almost sounded like a lie, but then Kris leaned in to snatch a kiss to shut Chanyeol, made the younger blond stunned and the rest of the boys winced in disgust. But since these friends are dating for a long time, public disgrace won’t affect their shameless skin-ship anymore.

In the other side, Kai didn’t look very happy now Baekhyun found a boy who loved him. Cause Kris and Chanyeol are together and Suho was hooked up with this cute girl named Dio, there’s only Kai left as single. He could imagine how their Friday Night gathering will look like from now on, with everyone making out with everyone while he stuck in the middle of them, watching TV and sulking all night because of the stupid loneliness.

Is it too much to ask for love?  

His desperate mind encouraged his heart to silently blamed himself for too cold to interact with other people. He also blamed his vicious eyes which always made people averted their gaze from him and he blamed his tall and build body walking around like wall of gloominess which ruined every party mood. The only way he can let himself free was by getting drunk, he will laugh a lot and talk a lot, his friends even need to knock him out to put a stop of him cause he can't live his life like that either, forever.

“Who’s Kim Kai in between you guys?”

Just when he took a long and heavy sigh, he heard a soft and alluring voice called his name. Cautiously he straightened his back and turned his body to see an angel -wait that’ll be absurd- a boy with angelic face and golden blond hair stood in front of their table, with the sweetest smile and a pamphlet held in one hand, “My name is Luhan and I saw his ad in bulletin board.” Said the angel -no the boy- while flashing the paper in front of everyone, “I want to be his roommate.”

Kai didn’t even know he was capable of gaping so wide, until now.

One thing to have roommate, Kai learned to lock his emotion even tighter and tried to look as flat as he could especially he had to share his room with a stranger, after Kris put an end to his solitary by placing an ads into their dorm board under his name. He really wanted to strangle Kris badly when the oldest gave him a playful wink as Luhan greeted him. If it’s about strength and toughness, Kai was capable of taking down everyone in his group. He’d just too lazy to even care about that.

When Luhan was moving in, he had class and then Sehun from football club invited his group to a party in their fraternity house, he totally forgot about Luhan. When he finally reached his bedroom, later in midnight -half-drunk- he found Luhan was playing War Craft on the blond’s bed, murmuring a low ‘welcome back’ without even looking up at him.

Kai smiled. His drunken state pushed his nervous system and shyness to the corner of his head so he leisurely approached Luhan bed and sat at the end of it. He repeated Luhan’s word with a chuckle, while opening his shoes and then climbed on the top of the blond.

“Wait.” Luhan sat up straight, alarmed with his weird behavior, “what are you doing? Kai?” but he sat on the top of Luhan crotch, both legs locked the half lower of the blond body to keep the boy still.

“I have to tell you something.” If he’s not drinking he’ll probably die of shame, but what will come out from his mouth was also the truth.

“Kai, you’re drunk.” Luhan said carefully, “so why don’t you get off me and take a shower first, then we talk. Ok?”

“Ssssh!” Kai rudely put his fingers on Luhan lips, and laughed as the happiness slowly poured into him cause Luhan lips are so soft and warm and giving him ticklish feels swirled inside his stomach, “I’m okay.” he nodded a bit weakly, “I’m okay. I just want to say, you are beautiful.” He loved how Luhan reacted to his words by slowly flustering in red and apparently need to gulp down some saliva to wet the drying throat. Without hesitation he added more by titling his head and staring at Luhan lovingly, “you're so beautiful that I thought you were an Angel. I’ve never known if human eyes can be so sparkly like yours or human skin looked so glowingly white or how a man voice can make my heart thumped so loud and harsh…”

“Kai, stop…!”

“I was drunk, I know.” Kai ignored Luhan by caressing the blond's red cheek by his thumb, “but this is who I am…”

For a second, there’s only silence in between them before Luhan cleared his throat and anxiously guessed,

“A drunkard?”

“No,” Kai felt dizziness started to take over his conscious and slowly made his body sway back and forth so he tried to gain all his focus to look into Luhan eyes again and said, “I mean, I'm  so cold and grumpy and mean in appearance but the truth is, I don’t have idea how to behave around people…” his voice faltered and disappeared into husky whisper as soon he out and let his body collapsed on the top of Luhan.

“Good night, Luhan…”

Luhan breathed hard, because of his bigger and heavier figure crushing right into the blond delicate bones, but even after a few minutes trying to struggle a way out from Kai, Luhan gave up. The pretty boy only stared at the side face of Kai which was stuffed into his neck, before the boy smiled softly, recalling the words had been said to him and how it also heated his body,

“Good night Kai.” he said it like a prayer before he also drifted into sleep.
