18igteen and ready for the world

18ighteen and Ready for the World”

Why are you expected to be an adult when you are treated like a child? Teens are no longer children. They are adults and should be treated as such. An adult is responsible and able to handle jobs and take care of others, as well as themselves. I know some 13-18 years old who are more mature than some 35 years old. Teenagers should be treated as adults at the age of eighteen because they can be responsible, be mature and they can be independent.

At 18 you can get a job, which is an adult reasonability. Being employed allows teenagers to pay for their daily needs, like shampoo, books and makeup without asking for money from parents and/ or any family member. Also, teens can pay taxes, and they can own a house legally. If they are working, they should be able to pay taxes, mortgages, sign contracts and be able to live and support themselves. This means that many teens are as responsible as many adults.

Some teenagers can be mature because they can make sacrifices to meet long terms goals that they've set for themselves. For example, they can perfectly take care of others who are younger than them or sick, as well take care of themselves and their needs. Teenagers around this age can be mature enough to be left alone for a week or even a month. When their parents or guardians are gone, these teenagers are able to take care of themselves if they have enough supplies. They won't need someone following them around and telling them how to do this or that.

My final reason that teens should be treated as adults at eighteen is because they can be independent. By this time, teens are able to drive, walk, or ride a bus by themselves and do not need someone to pick or drop them off at places. Another example is that they can get to places that they need to go to, like school. And, if parents are divorced (like mine are), then they can go to the other parents house more often than every other weekend. They can even get there themselves.

In conclusion, an adult is somebody who is responsible, able to handle jobs, and take care of others as well as themselves. eighteen years olds are ready to be treated as adults because they can be responsible, can be mature and independent. Teens are mature enough to care for themselves, as well as others. Parents and adults should not restrict teems so much because those teens may very well rebel against adults. Eighteen years olds should be able to go out and come back a later time, should be able to go to sleep when they are tarried a not being told to, and they are no longer children. So you shouldn't have restrict them so much. Teens are not children; teens are adults and surely deserve to be treated as an adult.
