It was well past midnight, now into the earliest hours of morning, Yugyeom's eyes flickering towards the neon numbers, the only point of brightness in his room. It was all too familiar to him, moving from hotel to hotel to keep up with his father's work. Five stars, penthouse, luxury. The hotels all seemed to blur into one, holding a sense of almost hostility, reminding Yugyeom of those rich ladies he would run into at his father's parties, impossibly beautiful yet so, so fake and cold, all different but the same.

A small huff passed his lips as he realised there was no way he would be able to get back to sleep. He slowly rolled out of the bed, pulling on the first pair of pants and shoes he could find, stumbling towards the balcony. He leant on the cold silver rail, eyes slowly trailing over the skyline, the sky a dark grey, the stars barely visible in the bustling city. The slight wind ruffled his pale hair, taking in a deep breath. The only thing Yugyeom didn't hate about the hotels was the view. Away from his parents and their expectations, his so called ‘friends', everything in general. It was quiet, tranquil, /perfect/. He sometimes wandered how it would've been if he was born in the country, to a 'normal' family. A lone country boy longing for the adventure, mystery and hype of the big city, probably.

He reached into his back pocket to pull out a pack of crumbled cigarettes, lighting one up and inhaling deeply, blowing out a nearly perfect smoke ring. such a terrible habit to pick up at such a young age, he mused to himself, a wry grin flickering across his lips. after a while, he put his cigarette out, returning back to his room.

now joining the glowing digits was his phone screen. texts, notifications, /unimportant /. he raked a hand through his bangs only to have them fall back into place. he then flopped down onto his bed, shoes and all, not even bothering to crawl under the quilt. he slowly closed his eyes, taking in another breath. not now, he'd deal with it all
