Before you read this blog post, be aware that I stated MY opinion about Mix & Match.
So do not bash.

Well today it was confirmed that Jung Chanwoo would join iKon as an official member.
And my faith scattered down. My faith in humanity scattered down.

Now you surely ask "Why?"

Well since I first saw the new trainees, Chanwoo displeased me.
I don't know if it's the fact that he acted before or because of his voice.
Well just think about it... That guy acted in famous dramas, so why does he suddenly decide to be an idol?
Was he caught in a moment and decided spontaneously that he wanted to be an idol? I don't know and will never know.
But I had my doubts, just like B.I. He had doubts too, since acting is more reputable in Korea.
That's why many idols start acting after a while. The exceptions are the ones who sacrifice their life for music; the ones who are aiming to be an artist; the ones who never thought about anything else than music. Do you see that in Chanwoo? Obviously not.
(Well the same goes to Jinhyeong and Hongseok, since there are just a few who actually love music like this. But do you get what I am trying to say?)

Chanwoo has a bright future regarding his acting. (For most of the koreans) he has the looks and I just don't get why he is trying to become an idol though?

Well okay now regarding his dancing and singing skills.

First of all: Can you think about a performance where Chanwoo shined because of his talent?
Well I can't. Sure he won the battles, because of his team. But he sang only a few parts and they were really simple.

Now take Jinhyeong as an example.
When he sang the second voice of Rolling in the deep, it was awesome!
When he sang accapella to "Marry me" by Jason Derulo. It was nice. It's really hard to sing without background music. (I bet Chanwoo would have failed.)
And last but not least his parts on "Long time no see" in the final match. Jinhyeong had two lines that were really high-pitched and hard to sing. Additionally he sang the whole bridge on his own and with so much feel.
His voice is beautiful and stable.

Furthermore Hongseok's voice and way of singing is wonderful.
The vocals would be perfect with Jinhyeong or Hongseok added in iKon.
The thing is that Chanwoo has a similiar voice to Yunhyeong/Donghyuk. So wouldn't it be better if a smoothing and mature voice like Jinhyeong's or Hongseok's have been added to iKon?
Well but somehow people didn't notice. (Except barooya , since she reminded me of this very important argument.)

Well okay now regarding the dancing skills:

I will leave Hongseok out of this, cause that guy- Hah.

Anyway maybe you remember when they planned the group dance in ep.3?
Jinhyeong got the chance to dance at the front, because he obviously dances better than Chanwoo!
And that's not my opinion, but B.I's. And additionally in the ep.6, Jinhyeong and his group won the dance battle.
That means Jinhyeong has better danciing skills.

So let's resume:
Hongseok = Singing (+++), Dancing (+) 
Chanwoo = Singing (+), Dancing (++)
Jinhyeong = Singing (++), Dancing (+++)

The way I see it, Jinhyeong should be popular and should have been added to iKon.

So why does Jung Chanwoo became famous and why did he get into the group?
Because he got something that the others might have "lacked".

He got the looks.

Leaving the fact out that beauty is in the eye of the beholder; he is the 'most' handsome among the three new trainees.
And that's the thing that bothers me.

He became famous, because of his looks.
When I read things about the fans of Chanwoo, I read something like "He is so handsome and nice!", "He makes iKon more attractive!" or "He fits in iKon."
These things are just wary reasons for their support.
Oh? So he looks cute and handsome? Okay, so how does it add more potential in iKon? Why are looks suddenly more important than actual talent? And it can't be his personality, because he is as shy as Jinhyeong? He doesn't stand out in any way... except his good looks.

Oh? So he makes iKon more attractive? If iKon really needs to gain fans by their visual looks, they surely should be ashamed of themselves. I heard that there should be people who are actually fans of a group because of talent. Awesome, right??
I think iKon will have lots of fans, just because of their beautiful music.
(Furthermore I think Yunhyeong is already handsome enough!)

Oh right. And the "he fits in perfectly." is invalid. How could you possibly know? How could you say that he fits in better than Jinhyeong or Hongseok? Or let's say it that way: What makes you think like this?
Is a freakin '"iKon" engraved in his heart or on his chest? I mean .. seriously?

Well most of his supporters can't tell me the reason nor another argument to support Chanwoo.

And the two things that makes me really sad are:

1. It's just unfair.
Like I stated above, Jinhyeong should have joined iKon. Additionally Jinhyeong never had the chance to team up with B.I. It's well known that B.I is the best leader. He could never show his whole potential.
Therewhile Chanwoo had the chance two times and I'm still not cinvinced.

2. It's shocking how superficial people are.
I don't want to insult anyone. But as far as I have seen, Chanwoo's fans are mostly supporting him because he looks good.
And since others tag along and go with the flow, he soon gained the attention of most of the fans.
I mean... shouldn't fans look for talents that would enhance the group?
But since YG already supported the image of Ot6+Chanwoo, there is no way to change that.

Well I'm sorry... I lost faith in humanity.

And I'm truly sorry to everyone who felt offended by my words. I do not mean too.
But it's just another unpopular opinion about it. And maybe there will be people who want to protect Chanwoo, but just like them I want to protect Jinhyeong. I think he will have a hard time. He had false rumours spreading around. He doesn't success in being a part of iKon. And lastly he will never get this chance ever again in his life. So your bias made his dream come true, while mine will just keep dreaming.

Well ...I just wanted to show my disappointment through this text.
I do not hate Chanwoo. I just think he doesn't deserve it as much as Jinhyeong or Hongseok does.

But since I want to be fair, I will give Chanwoo a chance. He's a member of iKon and he will have a lot of opportunities to change my opinion about him. I'm open-minded and I do hope he proves that he deserved this position. I don't want to see how he takes advantages of his good genes. I want to see his hard work as maknae and member of iKon.
